Little by Little Homeschool – Christian Homeschooling and Motherhood

Do you wish you felt confident in your homeschool decisions instead of constantly second-guessing yourself? Are you overwhelmed by questions, pressure, and the many roles you carry as a homeschool mom?

The Little By Little Homeschool Podcast offers tactical and realistic encouragement to free you from the stress, pressure, and constant uncertainty that so many homeschool moms feel. You'll find practical guidance and mindset shifts that help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and peace.

Hi, I'm Leigh, a Christian wife and mom who spent far too many years trying to duct-tape my priorities together. I chased approval, tried to meet unspoken expectations, and navigated homeschooling without a clear foundation.

I finally realized that if I was going to fully embrace the life I had, I needed to operate from a place of peace and joy. That's when I planted my feet firmly where I was and began to create beauty, seek simplicity, and live intentionally.

If you are ready to love your life as a homeschool mom and to know with confidence that you are doing the right thing for your children–this podcast is for you!

Together, we'll dive into homeschool hot topics, practical adjustments, and mindset shifts that help you create a homeschool where both you and your children can flourish—little by little.

There are a lot of things that make a homeschool mom question how she is educating her children. But, one of the biggest ones is when a friend homeschools with a different style or method.

"She is homeschooling better than I am."

"Her kids seem to love homeschool more than mine."

"I should probably stop homeschooling my way and do it like my friend."

Those and other thoughts swirl through a homeschool mom's mind. Her confidence begins to waiver.

Listen, I've been there. I had a few moments where I almost threw everything in the trash and was about to replicate a friend's homeschool.

This episode is what I've learned through those experiences, along with watching the outcome when children are homeschooled with different styles and using opposite methods.

Grab an iced tea and let's tackle this tough topic together.

Fear. Is it holding you back from beginning to homeschool? Is it holding you back from really embracing your homeschool? Is it holding you back from doing what is best for your children?

It can do all of those things...and more.

Let's stop giving fear a seat at the table. Acknowledge it, yes. And then, let's flip it on it's head and use it as motivation to create the best homeschool for your kids.

This episode outlines 3 major fear points that homeschool moms experience. But, we're not staying in that fear and I'll share how you can overcome this feeling and those sticking points.

It's one thing to love our children, but it's another thing to really enjoy being with them.

Unfortunately, it's very common for parents to use the excuse of not wanting to homeschool because they, "Could never be with their kids all day." But, homeschool parents can fall into the trap of thinking they have done a good thing by home educating, but completely miss the connection that is possible.

If you've been frustrated with your homeschool children and want to change your mindset to actually enjoy being with them, you need this episode.

It might feel a million years away, but your homeschooler will eventually complete their home education years.

Are you preparing them now for that time?

I know, it seems silly to bring up that question when your child is only 8 years old. But, I have noticed 3 really amazing characteristics among homeschoolers whose parents were intentional.

Grab that load of laundry that needs folding and listen in so you can keep these characteristics as goals for your years of homeschooling.

When in doubt, read. Lol! But, really it's true. Having a rough homeschool day? Read. Need a little quiet time in the day? Read. Want your homeschooler to expand their knowledge and understanding of the world? Read.

I get asked often for specific books, curriculum, and plans and I don't often share those publicly. Today is a little exception.

My 3 homeschooled children became avid readers and it was a highlight for their days. Over the years, they've each read hundreds of books. And today, I'm sharing a few of their favorites.

Grab a pen and paper and copy down this list for summer reading or tuck it away to get started on next homeschool year.

There are a lot of people looking to influence and thus, inspire your homeschool children. From social media platforms to corporations to friends and so on.

But, as homeschool parents, we should be intentional about being the first people to hold influence over our children. And that's easy when they are young and their world revolves around the family and home.

And as our children get older, it's easy to become complacent and just go through the motions and check off the to-do list.

Today's episode is all about whether you inspire your children. I have 3 questions that will get you thinking and hopefully making some intentional choices so that you can continue to inspire your children for the many years to come.

When you become a parent there are suddenly many decisions to be made. And some of those are seen as "controversial" within the culture you are raising your children.

Our 3 homeschooled children are all older now and can see the value in the decisions that my husband and I made. It wasn't always easy at the time to stick with our convictions, but the pay off has been amazing.

My list may be the same as you, slightly different, or completely different. And that is totally fine! The goal is to encourage you to parent intentionally and share what worked for us.
