Welcome to Lit Sh*t. Thank you so much for listening to our podcast.
We’re three friends who love reading and talking. We talk about books and gossip about the characters as if they are real people.
We cannot sing the praises of Tracy Deonn's Legendborn cycle enough, and continue our fangirling by discussing the second book, Bloodmarked. We pick up Bree's journey with the descendants of King Arthur's round table as she fights corruption, racism and bigotry within the system and learns more about her magic.
We talk about the first book in one of Angie's recent favorite series, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. We have a war college with a reluctant soldier, the daughter of rebel leaders trying to save her family, and a broken system primed for rebellion.
We revisit pod favorite author Elle Kennedy with Him, her collaboration with Sarina Bowen. It's a heartwarming male/male hockey romance about two childhood friends who may become more after a casual summer camp bet. Bring on the steam, sexual discovery, the hockey, intense real adult communication and more. We'd give this book more than 5 stars if we could!
We frequently sing the praises of Alix E. Harrow, and we're finally reading one of her books on the podcast with The Ten Thousand Doors of January. This is a fun fantasy novel which takes us between many worlds as we watch our heroine learn more about her family history and magical abilities.
We're taking a break from our regularly scheduled programming to share our thoughts on the Red, White, and Royal Blue movie adaptation by Amazon Prime. We adore this book its author, Casey McQuiston, and have been anxiously awaiting this movie. We're so glad it's finally here!
We discuss The Bear and the Nightingale, the first book in Katherine Arden's Winternight trilogy. We love the folklore in this story about a strong heroine fighting to preserve her village's traditions. It's an excellent commentary on feminism and religious persecution.
We discuss Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto. This book is a fun, wild ride about an accidental murder and deep family ties. There's a lot of humor, a bit of romance, and a hilariously loveable group of meddling aunties.
We indulge in some true crime with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. This YA murder mystery is twisty, clever, and the first of a pod favorite trilogy. Plus it's YA so it's not TOO scary. LOL.
Erica has been talking up The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna and finally managed to get it onto a podcast season. We chat about this YA fantasy novel with its f*** the patriarchy vibe, strong female soldiers, and deep friendships between women. Plus an adorable cat creature!
Staci has been waiting for AGES to choose From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout as a podcast book, and the time is finally here! We love this pick from pod favorite author Jennifer L. Armentrout. We have fantasy, romance, court intrigue, a bada**heroine and sexy hero...what more could we ask for?
