Jessie was born and raised on her family’s cattle ranch in Southern Idaho, which at an early age, instilled in her the importance of a strong work ethic, and a deep appreciation for the American West.

In addition to her lifelong involvement raising cattle, Jessie has had over a decade’s worth of experience in print and digital media, both writing for and producing various agriculture and western fashion publications, as well as freelancing in ag and western communications.

Jessie and her husband, Justin, have two children (Jhett and Jaxyn), and are working to carry on the legacies of their family ranching operations.

Whether it’s helping someone find their next job or employee, creating deep, relatable conversation via a podcast episode, speaking on stage, or sharing glimpses of their life online, Jessie’s goal is to create an atmosphere for conversation and connection, in an effort to ensure that the ag + western industries are here for the next generation(s).

She hopes to someday pursue a career as a ruminant nutritionist, and stay involved within the agricultural industry.

Growing up in rural Arizona and Colorado, I understand firsthand what it means to have a lack of access to care. It is an honor to work in the communities that I have grown up in and live in – serving friends and neighbors. My husband Eric and I live and raise our family on the Grand Mesa in Western Colorado. We are proud of our cattle ranching heritage, 100+ years and have 3 generations currently ranching together. We have twin sons, Jackson and Heston - and a daughter Macy. We are a family on the go! Since graduating, Carri has worked in a variety of industries, ranging from health and wellness to college athletics at Texas Tech University and WTAMU.
Through the Lord’s guidance, Carri now finds herself working in ministry at Harvest Connexion Church in Amarillo. She serves as the Event Coordinator and the Director of Rise, the young adult ministry. Carri loves being a wife to her husband Ty, and serving the Lord by building relationships with and ministering to young adults.

She then went on to judge at Colorado State University and graduated with her degree in Animal Sciences the spring of 2018. Joining Abby on the podcast today is Tyler Schuster. Tyler’s roots run deep in agriculture growing up in Brackettville, Texas. She grew up barrel racing, roping, playing sports, and being involved in 4-H and FFA. My favorite mornings growing up were spent horseback at sunrise with a Dr Pepper in hand.
Tyler graduated from Tarleton State University in May of 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Services and Development. While she was at Tarleton, she was elected Student Body President and was involved in 9 different student organizations, and helped the school transition to a Division I university.
Following her time at Tarleton, she attended Texas A&M University to pursue a Masters of Public Service and Administration. After graduation in May of 2022, I made my way to Fort Worth.
She currently works in beef education and focuses on working with the next generation of cattle raisers. In her spare time she hosts a podcast called Basically Famous and enjoys speaking at a variety of events.

Episode 20: Christ at the Center Apr 02, 2024

Curtis grew up on a farm thirteen miles from Tulia, Texas, a small town located in the Texas panhandle. He attended McMurry University for one year, followed by West Texas A&M the following year. He joined the U.S. Army where he began as a 91A, then 91B, (medic & field medic), and later became a 91J and was certified in burn care. His highest award is the Meritorious Service Medal. After his service in the Army, Curtis attended West Texas A&M University and graduated with a biology degree. He attended Duke Divinity School, and has served as a pastor in Happy and Lubbock, Texas, and planted Harvest Connexion Church 13 years ago, in Amarillo, Texas. Curtis and his wife Allison have four children. He enjoys anything that involves his family. They love to camp, fish, hunt, and simply hang out with one another. His ministry is one of service, and his theology emphasis our identity and the freedom we have in Christ.

Dr. Kelly Jones is no stranger to hard work and a good joke. Dr. Jones grew up in Clayton, New Mexico and received his bachelor’s degree in animal science from New Mexico State University where he was selected as the Outstanding Student in Agriculture. He went on to Texas Tech where he got his master’s in ag education, and shortly after began teaching at Goddard High School in Roswell, NM. After 7 years teaching high school again, he made the move to Canyon to pursue his doctoral degree. He has spent several years working in industry and came on full time to WTAMU in the Fall of 2023. Beyond his professional career, Dr. Jones loves spending time with his rat children (his words) who are 14 and 10, as well as running cows and starting colts.

Cody currently resides in Hereford Texas where he and his wife Lindsay and two dogs Gus and Lucy own and operate Chandler Insurance Agency. He graduated from Vernon High School and was thoroughly involved with 4-H, FFA, and sports.
Cody attended Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, OK where he played football for a couple years before transferring to WT to pursue a degree in Ag Education. When he graduated from WT in 2007 he was recruited by Farmers Insurance to become an agency owner and now owns agencies in Hereford and Amarillo.
Cody has also been involved in the community as Hereford Lions Club president, Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce, CASA, Hereford Economic Development, WT Ag Development, Tri State Fair and Rodeo, Spicer Gripp, Hereford Junior Livestock Show Association, and Texas Lions Governors. He and his wife, Lindsay have made it a mission to incorporate networking for our business and giving back by serving in community one and the same.

Alongside her husband, Tyler, and their four children, they operate Radke Land & Cattle, an Angus and Limousin seedstock operation. A former National FFA Extemporaneous Speaking Champion and National Beef Ambassador, Radke has spent the last 17 years on the road fighting for the agricultural families, rural America, and national food security. She’s the host of “The Heart of Rural America” podcast and radio show, a syndicated columnist, a western retailer, and a children’s book author focused on promoting ag literacy in schools. She currently serves as an appointee on the National Agriculture Campaign Advisory Council, where she provides industry insights to the U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee.

Codye Krueger is from Tatum, NM and is a graduate of WTAMU. While pursuing a bachelors in Agricultural Education at WT, he also had the opportunity to compete on the livestock and meat animal evaluation teams as well as be an Ag Ambassador. Following graduation, he was given the opportunity to come back in pursuit of his masters degree while working as a recruitment coordinator for the Department of Agriculture Sciences at WT. During that time, he married his beautiful wife, Grace. Following the passing of his former ag teacher, he returned home to Tatum to take the reins as the new ag teacher. He hopes to be able to impact the lives of his students just as his ag teacher did for him.

Lauren has strong roots in northeastern Colorado, but has spent that past four years studying agricultural media and communication at West Texas A&M University. Throughout her time at WT, Lauren has served in several leadership roles with the department and on-campus organizations. Outside of school Lauren is a published writer, an advocate for the western lifestyle, but above all, a friend to many. In addition, Lauren is the Marketing and Public Relations Manager at the Tri-State Fair and Rodeo in Amarillo, so be sure to visit her September 13-21 at the fair!
