#355: Jen Tischler -- Winning the Booneville Backroads Ultra 100K & Battling the Florida Keys 100 Oct 13, 2023
    Show notes

This week's episode is ultrarunner Jen Tischler!!! I met Jen at the Booneville Backroads Ultra back in 2020 and ran many of my most difficult miles with her. It was 98 degrees, no shade, 50 miles into the day and we were drinking hot water and my brain was shutting down. Jen was the most positive person I had ever ran with and I'm truly not sure I would have made it had it not been for her optimism! In this episode, we talk about her recent outright victory at that same race! Jen also shares the story of the BRUTAL Florida Keys 100....which got insanely difficult... This is an awesome episode and I hope you all enjoy it!

#354: James Adamson 2 -- Zen and Connection Through Mountain Biking Oct 06, 2023
    Show notes

What does training and competing in mountain biking bring to our lives? What does it mean to have our "why" be "just because..."? How can we discover space and meaning through our breath? What is it like when you are "in the soup" and not "thinking about or judging the soup"? This week's episode is with the incredibly insightful mountain biker, filmmaker, all around AWESOME human being James Adamson!!! James is a person I look up to and turn to when in need of wonderful, thought provoking conversations that help put into perspective obstacles I'm working through. This episode is a great conversation about what he discovered through diving full on back into biking this summer and how those athletic endeavors and adventures can help us navigate our own experiences through the world! I hope you enjoy the episode and find as many nuggets of wisdom as I did when we recorded!! Thanks James!!

#353: Matthew Hengst -- Paddling the Mighty Mississippi From Source to Sea Sep 22, 2023
    Show notes

This week we are talking with Matthew Hengst about him and his girlfriend Jen's summer adventure paddling down the entire Mississippi River from it's Source in Minnesota to the sea down in Louisiana!! This one is EPIC!! Through their adventure they battled giant oil ships, river alligators, lightning storms, flooding campsites, and much much more!! As someone who grew up in a town on the banks of the Mississippi I was completely fascinated by Matthew's tales. This is pure adventure at it's core and it is such a unique experience that traveling down the river captures the imagination. It also shows how adventure let's you experience a place at a deep level. Matthew taught me things about the Mississippi that only one who has traversed it over months could know. It seemed like truly a beautiful if not often brutal experience! Enjoy!! #352: Eszter Horanyi 2 -- The Tale of Her New Unsupported Nolan's 14 FKT Sep 15, 2023
    Show notes

This week we are beyond honored to once again be chatting with the incredible Eszter Horanyi!!! She recently set the unsupported FKT on Nolan’s 14 (an approximate 100 mile route that takes you up and over FOURTEEN of the Colorado 14ers, mostly off trail!!!) It’s an incredibly difficult, near impossible challenge even when you have a support crew. Eszter did it by herself. Completely unsupported. Along the way she battled snow, sleep deprivation, and a brief stint on the second to last mountain where she forgot what she was doing and why she was doing it! Imagine ljust realizing you were high up on a mountain surrounded by rocks in the dark with only a GPS route you were following…for some reason. Ultimately she finished the challenge, set the FKT and even celebrated with friends at the finish line (including the legend @courtneydauwalter who, at first Eszter was suspicious of being a hallucination 😂) It’s an amazing story and turned into one of my favorite episodes!! Always honored to chat with Eszter for the show!! Definitely check this one out!!! Wherever you listen to podcasts!!

#351: Kiira Antenucci & Abby Westling -- Rainier Infinity Loop FKT, Climbing Grief Fund Sep 08, 2023
    Show notes

What does it take to summit the iconic Mt Ranier TWICE while also running the 93 mile Wonderland Trail around? Mountain guides and all around AMAZING athletes, Abby Westling and Kiira Antenucci found out when after 3 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and 38 seconds they had not only set the new FKT but had an adventure of a lifetime! This episode is all about that experience! We talk about the ups and downs of that challenge, the importance of communication in an adventure partnership, and how folks can support the Climbing Grief Fund. I truly hope you enjoy this episode about this mind-blowing feat! #350: Lindsey Ward & Brady Manriquez -- Injuries, Camping, & Celebrating 7 Years of the Podcast! Sep 01, 2023
    Show notes

Celebrating 7 years and 350 episodes of the podcast with my wife Lindsey Ward and one of my best friends Brady Manriquez!! In this episode we talk about everything from Lindsey's second half marathon (and subsequent injury) to Brady's recent foray into camping. This was an absolute blast to record with lots of laughs! Hope you enjoy!

#349: Eliza Sampey -- "No Going Back", Severe Injury to Self Love to Bikepacking FKT Aug 25, 2023
    Show notes

This week we are chatting with bikepacker, adventurer, and "pro mountain shuffler" Eliza Sampey! Eliza recently set the FKT at the self supported GCOR bikepacking race through the Olympic mountains. It took her an incredibly fast 3 days, 5 hours, 13 minutes to travel the 450 miles. But in reality this accomplishment took much, much longer to achieve. 33 months ago Eliza had a terrible fall on her mountain bike and sustained a traumatic brain injury. It's taken months of intentional recovery, adjustment, and learning to love her new brain to get to this point. Along the way she has had to practice patience, battle frustration, and take "two steps forward and ten steps back". This episode is about true perseverance and self love. You will learn so much about processing new situations in life from this wonderful human being! I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!! (Photo By the Amazing Eszter Horanyi!!) #348: Bruce Kittle 3 -- Self Discovery By Taking on His First Triathlons!! The Power of Mindfulness Aug 18, 2023
    Show notes

This week I am honored to bring you another conversation with the one and only Bruce Kittle! Bruce is one of the wisest people I know and I’m always very honored to be able for time to sit down and learn from him. He is a man of many talents with passions for teaching mindset training with professional athletes, coaching all levels of football, guiding meditations and hosting his fantastic podcast Hidden Pearls with his daughter Emma. I was so excited to see that he has been diving full speed ahead into the endurance world by taking on his first two triathlons!! In this episode, we focus on the interplay between physical pushing your body through endurance challenges and the process of self discovery. We chat about meditation and how to sit with our challenges and emotions, bringing them in to better our lives, hear stories from his time helping out at Tight End University, and the challenges he’s faced during training for his races! We also were wearing the same exact t-shirt! That was awesome!
