Design Entrepreneurship with Mike Janda Mar 31, 2020
    Show notes

I couldn't be happier to have Mike Janda on the show again.
When Mike was first on the podcast, it was episode only episode 23. Now 40 episodes later, there are two major differences for both of us:
1.) This show was still called "the XD Podcast" and has since rebranded to, "Experience Design"
2.) Mike's instagram @morejanda had only 10K followers. Today, his thought leadership, industry veteran insights, and design stewardship have amassed him 125K followers.
On this episode we discuss design entrepreneurship, the climb to the summit of success, the ability to stop and enjoy the climb, innate vs learned skills, and the importance of having a tribe.
Do yourself a favor and buy one of Mike's books, or enjoy all things Janda go here: http://michaeljanda.com/

Discover Gravity During Crisis Mar 17, 2020
    Show notes

Well. I have a few episodes in the bank and I could have easily published one of those today, however, I feel like I would be remiss to not address the elephant in the room, rather the elephant in the world right now which is Corona Virus.
The CEO of Bottle Rocket, which is where I work, just slacked this little kid bit to us.

It is a picture of Isaac Newton. And It reads:
In 1665, Isaac Newton had to work from home when the University of Cambridge temporarily closed due to the Bubonic Plague. It was the most productive period of his life, and he used that time to develop his theories on calculus, optics… and of course the discovery of gravity.
And I think at it’s core it’s a reminder that we have faced tragedy at scale before and we will prevail. This world will prevail. It will take blood, sweat, tears, but we will make it through.
Especially during times like this, my call to action I have at the end of every show rings more true than ever. And that is, friends, to stay curious.

Special Announcements?!? Yes, indeed. Jan 28, 2020
    Show notes

Howdy friends! This week it's just me. I've got some very special announcements for the show and for some things I've been cooking up I think you'll be really jazzed about.
First of all, some information on my Imposter Tour...
I'll be doing a free live webinar with DesignHill Jan 29th at 8:00am CST! To join in go to this link to claim your spot: http://bit.ly/2sIGxwf
I am also so excited and honored to be doing my talk at HOW Design Live this year. The conference will be in Boston, MA May 4-7. So check out all of the speakers and information here: https://www.howdesignlive.com/
Lastly, over the past few weeks I've been working on a secret project. it stemmed from all of the DMs and conversations I've had with a lot of you. Over and over I get the question, "How do I become a UX Designer? / How do I get a job in UX Design?" WELL! I am creating a course just for you. This isn't a course on how to design. This is a course about having the right tools and approach to getting hired as a UX Designer. I've spoken to countless design leaders, hiring managers, and over the course of my career hiring a ton of people... I'm putting together all the information you need to land the job. Sign up at hiredux.com to be the very first to know when the course drops AND receive 50% off the entire course.
