This is a low-key, down-to-earth podcast about the ups and downs of life. We’re talking everyday challenges and the big ones, too.

Using my life and experiences as the backbone—Spanish teacher turned UFC fighter, now a professional speaker with a wife and kids—you’ll hear stories, lessons and strategies to help you keep going when you don’t think you can.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and could use some help fighting your fight, this is for you.

How did Willie Banks end up running a company called HSJ, Inc.? By becoming one of history's great triple jumpers! (Guess what HSJ stands for. You'll find out in this episode.) He set national and word records and made three Olympic teams, though the 1980 U.S. boycott kept him from those games. Still, Willie remained joyous and thinks no one has ever been more fortunate. In this conversation recorded at the Spartan World Championships in 2018, listen for Willie's stories involving OJ Simpson, Bruce (at the time) Jenner, and other timeless names. You'll also catch his passion for global connections, which led him to serve as president and CEO of the fall 2019 ANOC World Beach Games.

The first interview of 2019 is the first one ever to give us double The Spaniard! There is the Spaniard we know and Ángel Sanz, a Spaniard actually from Spain. These two are passionate about Spain and talk about both villages and cities and how Spain is the gateway between Africa and the rest of Europe. Ángel gives us insight into the various dialects under the umbrella of Spanish, as well as traditions such as late meals and siestas and how these are changing in some places. Ángel is a former pro basketball player who also competed at the University of Houston, and now his mission is to help make sure that sports do the greatest good. He also heads Spartan Race Spain.
