The Gastroenteritis Blues: (153) Sixers Lay an Egg Vs. OKC, Should Harden be an All Star? Jan 13, 2023
    Show notes

That game sucked! On tonight's episode of The Gastroenteritis Blues, Emily, Drew and Steve give their immediate reactions to the Sixers' sluggish and dispiriting performance versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. Also covered: the recent discourse surrounding Harden's All Star candidacy this season, debating the Sixers overall worst loss thus far, and the Eagles, as the squad wrapped up the #1 seed in the NFC last Sunday.

Injuries are impacting the Sixers and Nets with Joel Embiid and Kevin Durant getting hurt. How does this impact the East? Out of Site: With Dave Early. Jan 10, 2023
    Show notes

The theme of today’s Out of Site Podcast on the Liberty Ballers Podcast Network seems to be “the injury report”.

Adio Royster and David Early start the program with the news that Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant will be sidelined for a few weeks due to an MCL sprain. The Nets will re-evaluate him after a few weeks. (There’s a familiar phrase, eh, Sixers fans?) The Philadelphia 76ers are not without their own injury issues, however.

Joel Embiid (who has been upgraded to questionable at the time of this recording) could miss Tuesday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons along with PJ Tucker (who is probable, currently). There is a plan of action that would serve Embiid and the Sixers best when the team begins their west coast road trip this weekend at Utah to play the Jazz followed by games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.

Injury news isn’t all negative. Since returning from a fractured foot, Tyrese Maxey has looked very good in games three and four. The Sixers split those two games, but Maxey appears to have returned to form to be a crafty spark plug in the Sixers' offense.

After the break, Adio and Dave discuss the desire for Matisse Thybulle to get more minutes. In his piece (which was retweeted by Bill Simmons, by the way), Dave explained how much better the Sixers are in the plus/minus column when Thybulle is on the floor and how he should be used in certain matchups – something Adio has been asking for … for some time, now.

To close things out, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Georges Niang has an interest in being a participant in this year's three-point contest at All-Star Weekend in Utah. This would be a great honor for him (as he said in interviews) and a great moment for this Sixers team. There is the concern of a drop-off or slump in shooting that befalls most participants (i.e. Patty Mills last year), but is it worth it for the recognition.

We discuss that and more on this podcast.

    Peace. Love, and Go Sixers.

The Gastroenteritis Blues: (152) Sixers Continue Winning Ways, Embiid Day-to-Day Jan 06, 2023
    Show notes

On tonight's episode of The Gastroenteritis Blues, Steve, Emily and Dan discuss how the Sixers have continued their winning ways, going 3-1 since last they spoke to you, with wins over the Pelicans, Thunder and Pacers. They discuss P.J. Tucker's disappointing season thus far, James Harden's defense, and whether or not Joel Embiid's current foot pain is a cause for concern.

They also cover the first returns from fan voting for this year's All Star balloting. Where did Embiid and Harden rank?

Also discussed on the pod this evening: Doc Rivers' prediction that the Eagles will play in the Super Bowl, an 'around the league' segment assessing the Sixers' competition in both conferences, and some reality TV nonsense.
