    A vintage excursion Aug 12, 2014
    Show notes

    Hello!

A few weeks ago, I played in a 10 proxy proxy vintage tournament at Manaleak. It was my first vintage event, and I had a fantastic time! Here’s the list I copied from morphing.de (Luca Lovino), except I dropped a mana drain for a minds desire.

    Gushstrom
    1 Black Lotus
    1 Mana Crypt
    1 Mox Emerald
    1 Mox Jet
    1 Mox Ruby
    1 Mox Sapphire
    1 Sol Ring
    1 Demonic Tutor
    1 Tendrils of Agony
    1 Vampiric Tutor
    1 Yawgmoth’s Will
    1 Ancestral Recall
    1 Brainstorm
    2 Flusterstorm
    4 Force of Will
    1 Gifts Ungiven
    4 Gush
    2 Hurkyl’s Recall
    1 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
    1 Mana Drain
    3 Mental Misstep
    1 Merchant Scroll
    1 Ponder
    1 Preordain
    3 Repeal
    2 Snapcaster Mage
    2 Talrand, Sky Summoner
    1 Mind’s Desire
    1 Time Walk
    1 Timetwister
    1 Fastbond
    3 Island
    1 Library of Alexandria
    3 Misty Rainforest
    3 Polluted Delta
    3 Tropical Island
    3 Underground Sea

    Sideboard
    3 Yixlid Jailer
    3 Nature’s Claim
    2 Dismember
    2 Trygon Predator
    2 Nihil Spellbomb
    1 Hurkyl’s Recall
    1 Forest
    1 Surgical Extraction

It was five rounds and a cut to top 8 with top 4 cashing. We had about 20 players, from all over the place which made first prize about £80.

Here’s a brief recap of my tournament:
Round 1 vs Jim (workshops) w2-1
Round 2 vs Brian (URg Land still) w2-0
Round 3 vs Chris (Workshops) w2-1
Round 4 vs Toby (Hatebears) ID
Round 5 vs Gaz (Workshops) ID
    Top 8 vs Jim l0-2

So I finished outside the cash 😦 never mind, it was great fun!

For changes, I’d probably cut a Talrand for a regrowth, just to make gifts piles extra-savage.

    1 Year anniversary Aug 08, 2014
    Show notes

Well guys and gals, its been over a year since we’ve been giving you some (sometimes :)) high quality legacy suggestions, deck techs, guest speakers, random monsters, card spotlights, set reviews and rambling off topic stories. So thank you everyone for the support/emails/listening! Stu P. was so excited by this, that he decided to celebrate by getting married (to Heather, from episode 1). Soooo we’re going to have a few weeks off so he can get married, and then settle in to his new life without having to rack his brain for this weeks monster of the week. So congrats to them both, and we’ll see you all soon!

    Stu T.
