In March of 2004, 21-year-old Jennifer Wix and her two-year-old daughter Adrianna vanished from Cross Plains, Tennessee.

The last person known to have seen the two alive was Jennifer’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Joey Benton.

Joey claimed he had last seen the mother and daughter when he dropped them off at a gas station.

Twenty years after the girls vanished, Benton admitted everything he had said over the years was a lie.

Two trials, an impaired judge, and a ruling that shocked everyone.

George Thomas and Vanessa Coleman were both tried for their roles in the murders.

As Judge Richard Baumgartner struggled to read the verdict, many questioned whether the judge was impaired.

Baumgartner blamed his medical issues, however and investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation revealed something much darker that put all four verdicts in jeopardy.

In opening statements his defense team conceded that Cobbins was guilty of several of the 40 charges against him in the indictment.

Holly joins us to tell the story of Amber Wilde.

In September 1998, 19-year-old Amber Wilde was a junior at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, where she was studying pre-med with dreams of being a doctor. After a minor car accident she told her dad to call her in the morning to make sure she woke up for her college classes. That was the last time anyone heard from Amber Wilde.
