    Lead Stories Podcast

    Jo Saxton and Pastor Steph O’Brien are both leaders in Minneapolis. Jo is an author and speaker who has opportunities to teach around the world in various contexts. She is passionate about empowering women to realize their potential and purpose.
    Steph is a church planter and pastor of a church plant in the city. She coaches leaders and pastors around the country and is a professor at Bethel University. Passionate about investing in the next generation, Steph, blogs and speaks in order to equip people to live their every day life on mission for the Kingdom of God.

    In this podcast they share stories from their lives and what they’ve learned. Their hope is that this show will encourage, challenge and share tools with leaders and those who desire to live on mission for the Kingdom of God!

    Lead Voices Episode // Beatrice Achieng Nas from Uganda May 06, 2019

    This week's Lead Voices Episode is an interview Beatrice Achieng Nas who is the founder and director of Pearl Community Empowerment - Foundation.

    Beatrice was born in the Tororo district of Uganda where she grew up in a town with no access to clean water and needed to travel far to just go to school. She ended up becoming the first person from her town to graduate from college. After going on to become successful leader in humanitarian work in the UK, she returned to invest in her own village, starting a school, a mentorship program, agriculture and farming training program and much more.

    S06: Episode 15 - Maximizing Drive and Ambition Apr 29, 2019

    What does healthy ambition look like? Is it a God-given thing or just our own strivings? Do we have to make a choice between being ambitious and being happy? Jo and Steph tackle these questions and more in today's episode on maximizing drive and ambition. Together they will look at what can happen when we repress ambition and how to discern which dreams are God-given (and how to embrace those healthily), and where we need to be cautious.

    1. What has driven you in different eras? What was healthy and helpful and what was not?
    2. Have you ever burnt people with your ambition? Is there anyone you need to go back to and have a conversation with?

Rachel is an ordained Elder within the United Methodist Church and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Bible/religion and History from Anderson University and a Master of Divinity Degree from Duke Divinity School. Rachel is the author of Be Bold: Finding Your Fierce. She and her husband, Jon, have four children – Adeline, Christopher, David and Sarah.

    Pastor Laurel is back talking maximizing leadership with Jo and Steph. In this highly practical episode, Pastor Laurel shares from her personal experience and tools and resources which have helped her move forward into all God has for her.

    A practical way to maximize your leadership:

    1. Divide your paper into two down the middle.
    2. Write your gifts and dreams on one side and fears and vulnerabilities on the other side. Draw yourself in the center.
    3. Put the people you trust most on one part of paper and people you trust least on the other.
    4. Who are the dream busters and the people you need to let go? Who are the people who encourage you and spur you on in your dreams?
    5. What resources/steps can you explore next to grow further in your leadership?
