This week’s episode guest is Anna Kaplan, a holistic health practitioner, herbalist, yoni steam practitioner and nursing student. Anna is of Swedish and Kurdish descent and has spent her time connecting with her ancestral wisdom. A few years ago, Anna heard the call to study healing and herbalism and left her career in business and finance. She went on to study a herbalist program both in Sweden and Ireland and ended up also studying western medicine at a University in Sweden to tie it all together. She is passionate about women’s health and holistic approaches to healing and she is also a certified yoga teacher. She has also taken a shamanic approach to her own healing path. My guest this week is Apela Colorado Ph.D., of Oneida-Gaul ancestry, who founded the Worldwide Indigenous Science Network (WISN). She is the author of Woman Between worlds, where she shares her knowledge and experiences of indigenous wisdom and promotes an understanding between the indigenous and modern world perspectives. A journey back in time to preserve a connection to the ancestors, open a door to indigenous wisdom and healing and reclaim a Creation story for the future. Inspirational world authority on indigenous wisdom Apela Colorado works internationally to preserve the wisdom of indigenous elders from around the world. In this powerful and inspirational book, she weaves together an intricate and beautiful insight into the way that indigenous people see the world.

She shares her experiences as a Native American woman growing up in rural Wisconsin, who stepped out of her tribe to become one of the first Native American women to study at Harvard. Her passion for the indigenous way of life leads her to travel the world, meeting indigenous elders and setting up projects to promote understanding between the indigenous and Western world view. Her powerful book contains a unique and magical glimpse into the minds of those elders and will inspire us all to reconnect more closely with our own ancestral wisdom.

This week’s episode is all about the summer season and how to work with the Chinese Medicine element Fire. My guest is Rachel Appel, a Colorado-licensed acupuncturist and clinical Chinese herbalist. She is also a licensed yoga instructor and is working towards becoming a teacher of Vedic meditation. She received her Master of Acupuncture and Master of Chinese Herbal Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado.

Rachel’s passion for holistic healing and Traditional Chinese Medicine started when she battled with chronic fatigue syndrome, hormonal imbalance and digestives issues. She received acupuncture and took Chinese herbs regularly for two years and saw massive improvements in all of her symptoms.
