Our guest this week is an expert in the use of words as a surf columnist, writer, editor, digital marketer, copywriter and editorial content creator, with a Bachelor of Arts in English, we are sure to be corrected throughout this interview for the incorrect use of words!! Before becoming the Editor in Chief of Surfer Magazine, launching Red Bull Surfing, and working for folks like ESPN and NBC, he was writing Surfline’s reports and recording their 976-SURF phone reports in the late ‘90s. He has been the Senior Editor for The Surfers Journal and World Surf League. He’s been a copywriter for Quiksilver, Roxy, and Rip Curl. We welcome to the show (an HSS alumni) Mr. Jake Howard.

A conversation with Aaron "THE LAW" Loyd_Shaper_Artist_Photographer Feb 14, 2025

Our guest this week is a Craftsman and Artist! He began working with foam and fiberglass in the mid-sixties, establishing his own Surfboard label in 1968. He also had a side hustle designing art/logos air-spray apparel in high school, painted high-end motorcycles and even pinstriped new showroom cars for dealerships. He even played music and was in a Blues Band! He later became a Surf photographer for Surfing and Surfer Magazines. In 2001, he stepped out of professional photography taking a job with Al Merrick as a surfboard shaper. During this time, he seriously began pursuing fiberglass sculptures. His first fish was made in 2000 from a broken surfboard found on Banzai Beach in Oahu and now his artwork is in galleries and personal collections all over the world! We welcome to the show the legend Aaron “THE LAW” Loyd!!

Our guest this week is one of the OG’s as a cross-over athlete in action sports! Surf, Skate, Snow, and Moto! He is also an incredible Artist as if that isn’t enough! Talk about talent, everything this guy puts his mind to, his commitment, and balls out approached, he has succeeded at an incredible pace! From hitting huge Moto jumps at Anaheim Stadium at 12, to picking up snowboarding at 19 years old, going pro, and landing a Cover in Transworld Snowboarding in less than 5 years. He traveled the world competing in all these sports, had pro-models, started companies, and even had an Art Gallery called “The Mint”! He is a surf coach, does surf lessons, helps kids reach their potential, and loves volunteering and giving back working with Mauli Ola Foundation. Nothing he has done was half-ass and his life is a Great example of someone giving it 100% in everything he does! We welcome to the show. Mr. Mark Richard “SCABS” Gabriel!!!

Our guest this week is a young buck and charger from Newport Beach. From RJ, to 56th street to the wedge, he has been a standout since he was a super grom. He has been doing big things both in and out of the water from an early age. Whether helping out with the Young and Brave Foundation, or hosting a charity surf contest fundraiser at the young age of 15, this kid has a good head on his shoulders. For the last few years he has been tackling the Qualifying Series with some solid results, and just off a 3rd place in Puerto Escondido! When he is not competing he travels the world in search of epic waves and dropping sick clip and edits on his social media. “Embers” a short film that features him with his good friend Nolan “NOLRAP” Rapoza. Our guest this week comes from a Surf Family and got introduced to surfing at the age of 2. So it is no surprise that he was destined for greatness on a surfboard. He has put in more time than just about anyone at Lowers. This young buck has a couple of WQS wins under his belt, but recently just came off a Huge Win and Biggest thus far in his Career, at a QS 3000 Event in Japan. We are big fans, and are pumped to see him continuing doing great things and he is just another example of how deep the talent runs through San Clemente. We welcome Kei “K-CHAN“ Kobayashi.

Tour to clinch one of those very few spots for the challenger series. This hard worker is training
