Cracking Jokes with Roommates Max Duffy and Luke Fortner Feb 09, 2021
    Show notes

You know Max Duffy as the 2019 Ray Guy Award winner. Luke Fortner knows him as the guy who leaves his Ray Guy Award on the floor next to his pile of empty food containers.

The two Kentucky football players and roommates joined KSR to talk football and crack jokes for an hour. Duffy talked about his time at the Senior Bowl and how he's preparing for the NFL Draft. Fortner could have been in a similar situation this spring. Instead, he chose to return to Lexington for one more season. The two friends talked about their favorite wins, what it was like to block for Lynn Bowden, locker room pranks and much more. A few highlights:

-- Duffy doesn't understand why Americans put peanut butter on everything.

-- Lessons Fortner learned to hide his disappearing hairline.

-- Why did Fortner let Darian Kinnard announce he was returning?

-- How the Cats kept it all together despite this season's difficult circumstances.

-- The play Duffy proved Chris Rodriguez wrong.

-- Fortner is like a freshman again with a building full of new coaches.

    -- The Roommate Game!

Chris Matthews Reminisces on his Super Bowl Performance of a Lifetime Feb 02, 2021
    Show notes

This Sunday the Kansas City Chiefs will try to defend their title as Super Bowl Champions against Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. Six years ago the Seattle Seahawks were in a similar situation against Brady. Before a disaster at the goal line, former Kentucky wide receiver Chris Matthews was the Seahawks' unlikely hero.

An undrafted rookie, Matthews did not catch a pass in the regular season. After recovering a pivotal onside kick in the NFC Championship Game, Matthews had four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in the final football game of the 2014 NFL season. Ahead of Super Bowl Sunday KSR sat down for a one-on-one interview with the only Wildcat to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl, Chris Matthews. He spoke candidly about...

-- How Randall Cobb helped him grow on and off the field ahead of the 2010 UK football season.

-- Was he actually working at Footlocker when he got the call from The Seahawks?

-- The toughest defensive back to face in practice from the Legion of Boom.

-- An inside look of the deflated Seahawks locker room after Pete Carrol's infamous goal line pass.

-- His fondest memories from UK.

-- What was going through his head before the iconic onside kick.

-- Who you got, Lynn Bowden or Randall Cobb?

Quinton Bohanna and Phil Hoskins speak candidly about their Kentucky football careers Jan 20, 2021
    Show notes

A pair of players that battled in the trenches on UK's defensive line for years sat down with KSR to discuss their time in Lexington.

Since arriving on campus in 2017, Quinton Bohanna and Phil Hoskins helped Kentucky to a 30-20 record and three straight bowl wins. Anchors on the defensive line, the two combined for more than 110 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, six sacks, four pass deflections, a fumble recovery and an interception.

The big boys in the middle of Kentucky's stout defense are no strangers to trash talk. Now outside of the athletic department's grasp (well, Phil still hasn't completely ruled out returning for one more year), they took the gloves off and spoke their minds for an hour. Not only is the football talk insightful, it's hilarious. They pull no punches, especially when it comes to the University of Louisville. A few other topics touched on...

-- What Q said to NC State's Bailey Hockman after he threw an interception.

-- Why the Gator Bowl was the most meaningful bowl trip.

-- Origins of the Big Snacc nickname.

-- What it was like playing alongside Josh Allen.

-- Their favorite teams to beat.

-- Conferences outside of the SEC are playing pee wee football.

-- The best players they've ever seen on a football field.

-- What makes Mark Stoops a coach they would want their sons to play for.

The New Freddie's Gator Bowl Victory Party Jan 04, 2021
    Show notes

The Old Freddie is dead and gone. The New Freddie Maggard isn't holding anything back. The former Kentucky quarterback and Citrus Bowl Champion joins Drew Franklin and Nick Roush to talk about Kentucky's 23-21 win over NC State in the Gator Bowl. It's one of many football games the crew touches on in more than an hour of conversation. Highlights:

-- Living life in the hands (or behind the leg) of Sam Sloman.

-- Kentucky somehow had more interceptions than QB sacks in 2020.

-- Bully ball won the game for UK (and got them a few unsportsmanlike conduct penalties).

-- What the number of returning players and quick decisions say about the culture Stoops has created.

-- Would you rather take a hit from Yusuf Corker or Vito Tisdale?

-- What UK's new running backs coach brings to the table.

-- Max Duffy had the most athletic play of the day.

Adam Luckett and Freddie Maggard join Nick Roush to talk about Kentucky's exciting new offensive coordinator and the 18 players that put pen to paper and signed with UK on Wednesday.
