Woolly Trot and Mr. Rebate - EP161 - March 7, 2015
Woolly Trot Info from Rainlover:
It is the first ever Virtual 5K just for Fiber Lovers! All Knitters/Crocheters/Spinners are completely welcome and encouraged to join in. The Woolly Trot 5K!
Some Basics about the Woolly Trot 5K. • Participants have 1 Week to complete their run or walk and submit their time. May 24-May 30 • There are no prizes based on speed of times, but prizes are going to be given by random number generator to those who submit their times. • There are options on the funding site to grab some cool swag, such as T-shirts, Drawstring Backpacks, and Race Medals! - (More items will be added if there is a large draw for them such as water bottles, tumblers, coffee cups, keychains, etc) • There options for sponsorship as well which is a great way to get some exposure for some fiber businesses. Why Virtual 5k?! • One of the best reasons for this virtual 5k, is that with a great knitting community online there are tons of folks all over the world that wouldn’t possibly be able to all get in one place to do a 5k. This options allows many of them to participate. • Peoples schedules can always be all over the place, so allowing people 1 Week to get their run in allows people to work out at their own pace or try to meet up with friends that might be local. • Not to mention weather (which we know can’t be controlled), either way - gym or outdoor, this option makes it easy to fit into most schedules.
Prize lists will be on Ravelry and Website for event if funding goals are met. Prizes will be accepted, but trying not to get to many until we get farther along, I would hate to not make the goals and upset people.
More information can be found at the funding page or by contacting me. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/woolly-trot-5k/
Thank you for taking the time to read my request and even more if you make a mention!
As a bonus - If we make our goal, I’d be happy to cover the cost of Participation/T-Shirt for the podcast mention if you are interested!
Thank you again so much for taking time to read. Sarah (Rainlover)

Farewell Sweet Cody - Knitting Blooms
Jan 22, 2015
Farewell Sweet Cody As you might know Cody has been struggling with his health since last fall. We took him in for tests at the end of November, 2014, but at the time, even after several tests, the doctors couldn’t pinpoint what was causing is weight loss. At the time he weighed 8.6 pounds, down from 12+ pounds. Over the last several weeks Cody has lost more weight, he was down to 5.8 pounds, and was getting progressively weaker. Earlier this week we took Cody in to the Vet to see if they would finally be able to figure out why he was continuing to lose weight. After the examination, the doctor said that she felt a mass in his abdomen, and even with x-rays, she couldn’t be 100% sure if the tumor was operable. They would need to do an exploratory surgery to make a final determination. The doctor also mentioned that he was in desperate need of a blood transfusion due to being very anemic, which was what was probably causing his weakness. The doctor recommended no further action in regards to the exploratory surgery, because even if they were able to remove the tumor she didn’t think Cody had the strength to survive the surgery and/or the very lengthy recovery period.
We felt it was not right to put him through the trauma of a surgery and difficult recovery, especially if the was a possibility that nothing could be done. It sadden our heart to have to let Cody go, but we felt it was the right decision.
He will be joining all of his brothers and sisters over the rainbow bridge; Marty, Mickey, Brandy, Max, and Bailey. He will live in our hearts forever.
Please enjoy this look back over Cody’s life and share in our memories of a sweet, sweet baby.
Needless to say, I am not up for recording a podcast this week. I know you all will understand, but for those of you who have knit the Felted Clogs, I have a very special episode planned for next week.

March 8, 2014 Marty has crossed over the rainbow bridge. This past weekend Marty was getting progressively worse. He was having some difficulty fighting an infection because of his reduced immune system due to the Prednisone treatments. In addition, he was having labor breathing and had stopped eating on Sunday afternoon. Steve and I felt that there was no point in prolonging his pain any longer and we took him into the doctor Monday evening. The doctor confirmed that Marty’s body was starting to shut down. He had fluid in his lungs which could be the cause of the labored breathing. The doctor agreed that it was the right time to let him go. Marty is now with his brother Mickey who passed away last Summer. Both of these boys will be missed for a very long time. As you might imagine, I am in no way up for recording this week. Which is why I am posting this short tribute to Marty instead. I hope you enjoy a look back over Marty’s life. He was very much loved and he took a piece of my heart with him when he left this world. This weekend, I will upload the tutorials that will be posted while I am away at Knit-topia. If possible I will try to upload short clips or photos from Knit-topia and I will probably have a Knit-topia recap on my next recording date of March 27. Which means the next regular episode won’t be until some time in April, and I am sure to have loads of stuff to share with you by then. Read more »
