Who killed JonBenét Ramsey?
In Part Three of our deep dive into one of the most notorious unsolved murder cases in modern history, Nikki and Cheryl examine the suspects, theories and bizarre confessions surrounding the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey.
From the intruder theory and the strange circumstances surrounding the ransom note, to the people investigated by police and the suspects who later inserted themselves into the case, we look at some of the most widely discussed possibilities surrounding JonBenét's death.
We examine the claims surrounding Gary Oliva, whose possession of images of JonBenét and later confession brought renewed attention to him, as well as John Mark Karr, who claimed he had murdered JonBenét before DNA evidence ultimately ruled him out.
But the investigation eventually comes back to the Ramsey family themselves. We look at the questions surrounding John Ramsey's actions on the morning JonBenét was found, the contamination of the crime scene, the family's interviews with investigators and the various theories that have circulated about what may have happened inside the Ramsey home.
And just when you think we're reaching the end of the case… we're not.
This was supposed to be a three-part series. It has now become four.
⚠️ This episode discusses the murder of a child, sexual abuse and other disturbing subject matter. Listener discretion is advised.

The investigation into the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey continues in Part Two of our deep dive into one of the most infamous unsolved true crime cases in history.
In this episode of Killers, Cults & Queens, Nikki and Cheryl return to Boulder, Colorado, in the aftermath of JonBenét's murder on Boxing Day 1996. What should have been a straightforward investigation into a kidnapping quickly became a murder investigation — but the crime scene had already been seriously compromised.
We look at the Ramsey family, the backgrounds of John, Patsy and Burke Ramsey, and the events surrounding the discovery of JonBenét's body. We also examine the ransom note found inside the family home, including the bizarre $118,000 demand that matched John Ramsey's Christmas bonus, and why investigators questioned whether it was really written by a kidnapper.
We also delve into JonBenét Ramsey's autopsy findings, the clothing and DNA evidence, the fibres discovered on the duct tape, the mysterious pineapple found in her stomach, and the problems created when family members, friends and police moved around the house before the crime scene could be properly secured.
With the evidence seemingly pointing in different directions, investigators were left facing two competing possibilities: was JonBenét killed by someone inside the Ramsey family, or was there an intruder who entered the house that night?
And as the investigation develops, the Ramsey family find themselves increasingly at the centre of suspicion while continuing to insist that an intruder was responsible.
This is Part Two of our four-part JonBenét Ramsey series. In Part Three, we begin working through the suspects, intruder theories, false confessions and DNA developments that have kept this case in the public eye for decades.
⚠️ CONTENT WARNING: This episode discusses the murder of a child, graphic injuries and potential sexual abuse. Listener discretion is strongly advised.

Christmas Day. A beautiful family home. Presents under the tree. And a six-year-old beauty queen who has no idea that this will be her final Christmas.
In December 1996, JonBenét Ramsey was murdered inside her family home in Boulder, Colorado. By the following morning, her mother had discovered a bizarre ransom note claiming that JonBenét had been kidnapped — and the police were called.
But there was a problem.
JonBenét was never taken from the house.
Her body would be discovered hours later in the basement.
In Part 1 of our four-part JonBenét Ramsey deep dive, Nikki and Cheryl take you back to Christmas 1996 and examine the night JonBenét was murdered, the shocking ransom note, the 911 call, the discovery of her body and the chaotic first hours of the police investigation.
How did a kidnapping turn into a murder inside the Ramsey family home? Why was there a ransom note demanding $118,000? And how did the initial investigation become so complicated so quickly?
And perhaps most importantly… was JonBenét really ever taken from the house at all?
This is one of the most infamous and controversial unsolved murder cases in true crime history — and we're going right back to the beginning.
⚠️ CONTENT WARNING: This episode discusses the murder of a child, injury detail and potential sexual abuse injuries. Please proceed with caution.
This is Part 1 of 4 in our JonBenét Ramsey series. Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss Parts 2, 3 and 4, where we dig deeper into the Ramsey family, the forensic evidence, the police investigation, the suspects and where the case stands today.
