Luke 2:4-7 & Matthew 1:21 Today we hear the classic story of Jesus being born in Bethlehem. I am just getting over losing my voice so I apologize that it sounds different. In our story, we hear that Jesus' birth changed everything. This was part of God's rescue plan but we contemplate what Jesus gave up when he came down to Earth and put on human flesh. The apply section speaks of the significance of His birth. Without the birth of our Savior, Jesus, there would be no cross. Without the cross and resurrection at Easter, we would have no hope. We will first hear what our Bible says and then have a short, simple activity for your family to try. We are doing 1 activity a week for advent in addition to our weekend full stories. I intentionally made these activities very simple! You do NOT have to purchase anything, no prep needed, and the whole family can listen and enjoy.

Today we learn that no one can earn God's love. Sometimes we believe a lie that if we are able to act a certain way, then we'd be perfect and then God will love us. Our activity has the kids discuss this. No amount of money or trying to be perfect will earn his Love. Instead, people are made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift.

Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16

To prepare for Christmas, we need to understand why Jesus' birth is such a big deal. To begin to grasp how important it is, we will rewind back to the Garden. I understand there are a variety of ages and backgrounds who are listening so I have tried to keep it age appropriate for most families.

We learn about:

1. Adam & Eve sinning & how that affects us.

2. We all need Jesus and His grace. Grace is a gift, not earned.

3. Sin separates us from God. We are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.

***** We will not discuss Hell in this episode. Hell is biblical and should be discussed in your family when it's appropriate. I did not address this here as I want to respect families and the personal discussions that need to occur in the home for this.

We are doing something different for this episode. We will hear a short scripture from our bible and then listen to an imaginary story about Molly and Will to help us understand the scripture. Molly & Will just read our scripture AND you’ll hear they both experience the same exact day. Will they react the same way to their day though?

Today's story reminds us that God is not upset when pray for him change the situation. We look at Jesus as our example who prayed to his Father in Luke 22 " If you are willing, remove this cup from me. Yet not my will, but yours be done." God wants us to pray about anything and everything but Jesus is also our example that we must trust Him even if the situation does not change. Can we trust Him? You sure can. Tune in to today's story to hear why we can trust Him and how we can find something to be thankful for even in hard situations.

This month we are continuing to talk about gratitude, being thankful. We hear the Bible whisper over and over again to give God thanks. Being thankful is like a powerful weapon to combat greed, anxiety, and our enemy. We hear how Satan told a lie in the Garden and he is still trying to trick us w/ his lies today. To combat this, we learn to use the Truth..that there is already so much we have to be thankful for. When we choose to see the wonderful things , we realize we already have so much to be thankful for..and being thankful, it’s like kicking the enemy in the teeth. It protects our hearts & how we feel. It guides our thoughts to the goodness of God and reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father above.
