Show notes

It's time to become a fan of Urban Meyer as he refreshingly speaks his mind. The latest? Meyer says of course the Covid vax is a factor in whether to keep a player or not, it's the NFL's silly rules. Now the NFLPA is investigating the Jacksonville coach.

The Chiefs cuts didn't turn a lot of heads, but they did do something with a player they've never done before.

A pair of baseball greats have been sent home by MLB Network because they haven't gotten jabbed. What's going to happen when they need them in the broadcast booth for the playoffs next month?

Joe Biden's victory dance had a massive contradiction in it that a high school debate teacher would grade with an F.

And an Oklahoma Congressman is missing after taking a pile of cash towards Afghanistan to hire a helicopter and private help to get an American woman and her four kids out of the war torn country.

No Victory Lap, Policy Hurting Kids, Jayhawks, Cats and Tigers Openers Aug 31, 2021

Joe Biden is giving a big speech now that we are out of Afghanistan where he's going to try to convince you that the greater good of getting out justifies the disaster we just witnessed the past two weeks. Just remember, the most important call in their playbook is controlling the message. And that's about to start.

These are the same people that have controlled our Covid policy for two years. You know, Covid, that virus that kills really old people that aren't well. Turns out the policies are making our children fatter, sicker and dumber. Hey, this is great.

And it's week one for college football as we take a peek at the Jayhawks, Wildcats and Tigers openers.

Big Support for Fallen, More Secrets from Mayor Q, AFC's Impressive QB Crop, Salvy Again! Aug 30, 2021

Show notes

It's so sad to lose service members the way America did last week and at the same time, it's heartwarming to see how everyday folks remember them. So many great tributes all over the land this past weekend reminds us that most Americans are truly great people.

Now politics, well, that's a different bird. Mayor Q as a councilman and candidate railed against the city doing deals behind closed doors. Now it's reported one of the all time great deals is being done in darkness in KCMO. Of course it is, as what company gets to put all the restaurants in the new KCI is big business for politicians.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs look ready. But does it look like the future for a whole bunch of AFC offenses and their quarterbacks is pretty bright, too? If we thought this was going to be a 15 year cakewalk for KC, we should think again.

Salvador Perez now has more home runs in a season than any other catcher in American League history. So why are some in the local media trying put an asterisk by it? We've got the answer.

And Kansas City native Ed Asner has died at age 91. He's an all time Emmy Award winner and his character was an inspiration for me.

There's Greatness in Every Community Aug 27, 2021

Show notes

With all the bad news and chaos in the world since the start of the pandemic, I was reminded by a listener named Jim Smiley that there is greatness in our communities if we just take the time to see it.

Jim sent me a video of incredible young kids that benefit from the great work at www.ballardcenter.org in Lawrence and put me in touch with Becky Price, the CEO. She's carrying on a nearly 60 year tradition of helping people in need and while you'll hear how unique she is, we should remember there are thousands of great Americans just like her in communities everywhere.

A Choice to Make Aug 27, 2021

Show notes

It was the worst day for America since 9/11 and it leaves us with a choice to make. Do we care? Do we want to remain the greatest country on earth or do we want to leave it all behind for things that entertain us and make us feel good?

Chiefs Host Vikings, Salvy Closing In, Nichols Out at ESPN, KS Redistricting is Federal Law Aug 26, 2021

Show notes

The Chiefs may be the best team in football, but you wouldn't know it by the way they've approached the preseason. The starters are center stage again Friday night as KC hosts Minnesota.

The Royals bullpen wastes a Whit Merrifield grand slam but lost in the shuffle is Salvy homer number 34. This is getting really exciting as he closes in on baseball history. We update his chances.

The original woke Karen of ESPN, Rachel Nichols, is out. Even her extreme liberal views couldn't save her in the end as she believed a black employee was getting preferential treatment.

Kamala first, then Joe Biden... as both are scheduled to campaign for Gavin Newsom in California's recall election. Larry Elder is getting his wish.

And local KC media are freaking out about redistricting in Kansas, saying Republicans are cheaters for wanting to break off a chunk of district 3. What they won't tell you is, this is federal law and it MUST happen to be legal

On our 2021 CFB preview we offer the latest on realignment, conference alliances and the future of the game. Plus, we take a deep dive into MU, KU and KSU in a rare year all the fans of these teams like their head coaches.

Stan gives his thoughts on a potential breakout year for Connor Bazelak at Mizzou, calls Lance Leipold "a real football coach" at Kansas for the first time since Mangino and discusses the possibility K-State is underrated.

It's all here on our first chat with the smartest football man I know.

Biden Polls Crater, Fauci Dog Scandal Heats Up, Chiefs Passes are Rushes, Leipold Strategy Solid Aug 25, 2021

Show notes

Most times, polling on a sitting politician is boring and only moves a little and doesn't mean anything.

Joe Biden wishes that was happening to him, but it's not. Shocking poll numbers reflect Americans do pay attention and they aren't stupid. At least, after they vote.

A group of GOP reps has sent a letter to Dr. Fauci and he has until Monday to respond why he funded the abuse and killing of 28 beagles in the name of research. This story took an awful twist for me as I just learned it happened in the same buildings my daughter learned how to do research in college.

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy said this week, even a slant pass 4 yards down field is considered a running play by the Chiefs. If that's the case, how many yards a game do you think the Chiefs average rushing? This is fun.

The Pac 12 Commissioner says he will announce later this week if their conference is looking to expand and new KU football coach Lance Leipold has a great strategy on going for 4th downs.

Stranded in Kabul, Dem Agenda Dead, Andy Challenges Mahomes, Big 12 Scramble Aug 24, 2021

Show notes

For any seasoned reporter, you know when you've touched a nerve. Jen Psaki's reaction to the word "stranded" was so heavy handed and over the top, here's what we know. Americans are stranded and the Biden admin doesn't know what to do about it.

This mess in Afghanistan is going to take quite some time and it's obvious the Dems aren't going to be able to pass their $3.5 trillion wish list. At least that's some good news for America and our future.

Andy Reid is not just defending playing Patrick Mahomes in the preseason, he's calling it important. We think Andy believes his team needs to be reminded football isn't easy and there's nothing given this year.

And while three other conferences are announcing an "alliance" to make sure college football doesn't become a one trick pony, Big 12 schools are scrambling to see where they may land when this is all over.

Mahomes Looks Rusty, Brady's American Message, Kabul Getting Worse, Elder Attacked in Cali Aug 23, 2021

Show notes

If we are going to get excited about certain players looking good in the preseason, it seems fair to mention what looks wrong. And right now, Patrick Mahomes looks rusty. Hey, some teams aren't even playing their starting qb until the regular season, but if Mahomes is going to play, I'd like it to look like it matters.

Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has done an in depth interview talking about Americans always looking to blame, shame and instill fear. It's really great stuff that applies to football and life and I hope every American reads what Brady has to say.

The situation around that airport in Kabul is getting more dangerous as ISIS has now arrived. The British, French and Dutch military are carrying out missions in Afghanistan to find their citizens and get them to the airport. So why won't Joe Biden order the same thing?

And conservative radio host Larry Elder, a black man running for governor, is attacked by the Dems and media in California in a sick way.
