    Show notes

    21. Alma Kellner- Part 1 Feb 11, 2021
    Show notes

Eight year old Alma Kellner vanished without a trace in Louisville, KY in December 1909. Her disappearance shocked the city and the way things played out afterwards are so bizarre, I’m sitting here talking about them over 100 years later. Thank you to Shawn M. Herron for doing SO much research and authoring the book ‘Louisville’s Alma Kellner Mystery.’ Much of this story takes place in St. John's Church, which is now the site of St. John Center for Homeless Men. On behalf of this episode, please go to www.stjohnscenter.org/support-our-mission. Thank you

    20. Hopkinsville Goblins Feb 04, 2021
    Show notes

Owls? Monkeys? Hallucinating drunks? Or did a group of tiny green men really land their UFO in Kelly, Kentucky on the night of August 21, 1955? Sources include ‘Mysterious Kentucky- The History, Mystery and Unexplained of the Bluegrass State’ by Barton M. Nunnelly; ‘Strange Kentucky Monsters’ by Michael Newton and history.com/news/little-green-men-origins

    19. True Crime- Virginia Caudill Feb 01, 2021
    Show notes

There is one woman on death row in the state of Kentucky. That woman is Virginia Caudill. She was convicted in 2000, along with her accomplice Johnathan Wayne Goforth. The strange thing about this is that we don’t truly know which one of them committed the murder. We do know that neither of them tried to stop it. So they both sit on death row, awaiting an execution date. Enjoying the show? Help a girl out by heading over to anchor.fm/Jessie-Bartholomew and support for just .99 cents per month! Many thanks!

    18. Pope Lick Monster Jan 28, 2021
    Show notes

This mischievous creature hangs out around the Pope Lick Trestle- a tall, bridge-like structure about 15 miles from downtown Louisville. Though his existence is an urban legend, the consequences of his story are very real. Check out the short film The Legend of The Pope Lick Monster. Plus the Atlas Obscura Article “Pope Lick Trestle Bridge.” And the Courier Journal articles “Pope Lick ‘monster’ survivor mentally crushed” from 2016 and “15-year-old girl dies in yet another train accident on the Pope Lick trestle” published in 2019.

    17. Killer Coroner- Louisville Jan 25, 2021
    Show notes

Dr. Hugh McCollough was re-elected to his position as Jefferson Co. coroner and all was well. Until the peacock incident. From the book Cruelly Murdered by Keven McQueen

    16. NUCLEAR- Maxey Flats Jan 21, 2021
    Show notes

So much nuclear waste, y’all. This story takes place in Hillsboro, Kentucky, where the state approved a site for the Maxey Flats Waste Disposal Facility in the 1960s. What could possibly go wrong? I’ll tell you what.
