    Show notes

The guys decided to have a lighter, more fun episode so they looked at medical television shows and how accurate.... or grossly inaccurate they are. They reached out to our listeners who provided lots of feedback on things they have seen in shows as well. The basics are covered like shocking asystole in codes and intubating with yankauers. Then they go in-depth into several shows that have tons of errors in them. Let's just say, if providers practice like they do on television, licenses would be revoked quickly. Our stories you may have missed involves concerns from the WHO and another incident of a medical professional losing their life.

    Show notes

Ben & Tom attempt to discuss the effects of alcohol. We examine the acute effects, holiday heart, and chronic effects of alcohol usage. But Kyle pulled some of the funnier bits from the first recording of the show and inserted those into the episode. We also (with the help from some friends) made some spoof commercials for Cafe Bustelo, because a strong coffee is usually needed the next day after alcohol usage. Is there an ICD-10 code for this? What are RVUS and how are they calculated? All those questions and more are answered in this episode. The guys break it down into three sections. First, is determining the appropriate coding for your office visits. We look at what needs to go into the HPI, ROS, and PE for each code. Next, they examine the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 and why we had to make that change. What is ICD-10 good for and they find some VERY interesting ICD-10 codes. Lastly, (and a highly requested topic) the boys jump into CPT codes, consent forms, and RVUs. An in-depth explanation of calculating RVUs occurs in this episode. If you are negotiating a RVU contract in the future, you don't want to miss this. And after the show ends, we get the guys back on for a short explanation of next week's episode.
