Opt-outs and Bowl Season | Late Kick Live Ep. 221 Jan 03, 2022

Show notes

Late Kick Live Ep. 221 features Josh Pate reacting to recent debate about College Football bowl game opt-outs and whether it’s an indictment on player passion and investment into the sport OR a sound business decision knowing the risk vs reward. We also look ahead to the National Championship featuring Alabama vs UGA next Monday night in Indianapolis. Will Nick Saban and Alabama duplicate the performance we saw in the SEC Championship Game or will Kirby Smart and the Dawgs clinch the program’s first title since 1980? Josh also takes some time to discuss how incredible a job Dave Aranda is doing at Baylor. After a 12-2 season and a Sugar Bowl win over Ole Miss, what are reasonable expectations for 2022 and beyond? Is Aranda at Baylor for the long haul? All that plus Josh empties the Late Kick inbox by answering several viewer questions.

Fixing Bowl Season | Late Kick Live Ep. 216 Dec 20, 2021

Show notes

Late Kick Live Ep. 216 features Josh Pate looking back at the wildest coaching carousel and transfer portal period College Football has ever seen. How much will the immediate futures of conference and CFB Playoff races be tilted by the movement we saw via transfers and decommitments leading up to Early Signing Day? Could programs like Michigan and Texas see the greatest benefit in their effort to jump into the top tier of the sport? With bowl season once again under fire due to opt-outs by players heading to the NFL, Josh offers a pair of solutions to fix what once needed no fixing at all. How would you go about tweaking bowl season to keep the spirit of the season intact? Also, following the stunning Early Signing Day flip of Travis Hunter, many have been questioning the long term prospects of Mike Norvell as FSU head coach. Tonight Josh brings back the mood tracker to take a look at the Seminole fan base. All that plus several added best bets as bowl season rolls on.
