    Dr. Chris Kuenze is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, a clinical professor in the Department of Orthopedics, and the Director of the the Sports Injury Research Laboratory. His primary research interest is the impact of ACL reconstruction on physical activity participation developing interventional approaches to promote physical activity during clinical care. His secondary interests include clinical evaluation of lower extremity neuromuscular function with the goals of reducing ACL re-injury risk and promoting positive long term patient outcomes.

    Geoff Dover is a Certified Athletic Therapist and a Certified Athletic Trainer. After earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph he completed his Athletic Therapy training at Sheridan College. He then earned his masters degree and PhD at the University of Florida. For the last three years Dr. Dover was the director of the Graduate Athletic Training program at the University of Florida before starting his position at Concordia University at Concordia in 2008. Dr. Dover wants to thank all of his co-authors for making this study possible. Because of their hard work we were able to identify these findings and make contributions towards understanding pain in athletes.

    JAT Chat | Heat Safety and Environmental Monitoring Apr 26, 2021

    Dr. Kara Radzak interviews Dr. Doug Casa, Dr. Yuri Hosokawa, and Dr. William Adams about their recent series of papers discussing best practices for heat safety and environmental monitoring.

    Dr. Douglas Casa is the Chief Executive Office for the Korey Stringer Institute and a full professor at the University of Connecticut. In 2008 he was the recipient of the medal for distinguished athletic training research from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. In 2016 Dr. Casa received the highest honor in his field when he was named a fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology (FNAK #556). He was named a fellow of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2008.

    Dr. Yuri Hosokawa is an Associate Professor at Waseda University in Tokyo Japan. Her research interests include prevention and education of sudden death in sport, establishing best practices in road race medicine, development of regional-specific heat guidelines for exertional heat illness prevention, and development of heat acclimatization guidelines for tactical athletes.

    William Adams is currently an Assistant Professor and Director of the Athletic Training Program at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. William has been a licensed Athletic Trainer since 2010 and has worked clinically in collegiate and secondary school settings. Dr. Adams’ research interests are focused on investigating various facets of exertional heat stroke, maximizing athletic performance in the heat and preventing sudden death in sport and physical activity.

    Stacy E. Walker PhD, ATC, FNATA is a Professor of Athletic Training at Ball State University. She has over 50 peer reviewed journal articles, more than 70 professional presentations. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Athletic Training and the Athletic Training Education Journal and is a member of the NATA Research and Education Foundation Research Committee, the Board of Certifications Maintenance of Certification Task Force the Association of Standardized Patient Educators Grants and Research Committee.
