Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we'll be recognizing Sickle Cell Awareness Month, which is September for those who don't know. Ms. Sha', It's Real Talk Radio co-host, has the Sickle Cell Trait and has a child who has the actual virus which is passed on genetically. Millions of people carry the trait and millions live with the actual illness and it's important to recognize and educate ourselves on this deadly disease, which claims the lives of countless people including Hip Hop legend, Prodigy. Sickle Cell patients live with great discomfort and pain and there is no cure for it. When you have it, you have it for life. Some of you probably have a family member who has this illness and you yourself may carry the trait and not even know it. There is so much to be educated on when it comes to Sickle Cell Awareness and there's no better suited person to learn from than Ms. Sha', because she has been dealing with this disease for years! There are organizations that help and support Sickle Cell patients, including the Sickle Cell Society, the Children's Sickle Cell Foundation and others which we'll get into on the show. So make sure you listen in because there will be a lot of valuable information you can learn and pass on to friends, family and loved ones. It doesn't get much realer than this! Tonight, on "It's Real Talk Radio", we will be discussing "Parenting Styles." The question we're asking is "What Parenting Style do you have?" There are 4 Primary Parenting Styles: Authoritative - Flexible, assertive, democratic, self-regulation, warmth, supportive.Authoritarian - Obedience, Autocratic, structure, responsiveness, boss mentality.Permissive - Appeasement, non-directive, over-involved, indulgent, lenient, no guidelines.Uninvolved - Distant, uninterested, neglectful, absent, passive. Most (if not all of) you fit in one of these categories and some of you are embarrassed to admit which category you honestly fall under. Well tonight, we're keeping it real! This aint no fairytale show! It's time to be honest and real. Your Parenting Style represents who you are as a person! So if you can't keep it real about your parenting Style, then you are phony in general! We are here to bring realness by having a real conversation, as it pertains to parenting. So if you can't handle the heat, then stay the bleep out of the kitchen, POINT BLANK! We'll also be touching on how third party people’s views and opinions affect our ability of parenting in public and around others in general. This is an interesting dynamic and typically a game changer for some parents, as we live in a very judgmental society. Parenting the way you parent in private can be embarrassing in public, as others tend to gaze at you and some even go as far as commenting, which could lead to controversial backlash, arguments and in some cases, physical altercations. Tonight we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Rhett Thompson hosting It's Real Talk Radio. So many conversations, so many moments: the good, the bad and the ugly: Breast Cancer Awareness, The Honeymoon Stage, Sex Chronicles, Do You Think Black Wall Street Would Work Today, Babies Having Babies, just to name a few of the topics Rhett has covered with the team in her 1 year. Always professional, courteous and on time, it has been a pleasure to work with Rhett over the past year. Tonight is about reminiscing and celebrating what Rhett has bought to the table for the crew. She literally came on board and helped keep the show afloat when personal situations with the rest of the team wouldn't allow for the structure and consistency of the team to flow as desired. She has literally helped perform CPR on the show and breathe new life into the movement. Tonight is about saluting an ally while acknowledging all of her hard work and dedication. How hard did she work and dedicate herself? She was immediately asked to take on the lead host position and she did it without hassle, handled it like a pro and has been leading since! What If You Found Out Your Partner Was Transgendered? Aug 09, 2017

Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we're asking what would you do if you found out your partner that you have been intimately dating is Transgendered? Would you curse them out, storm out and cut them off? Would you try to make out they've never existed from then on? Would it turn into a physical altercation? Do you think you'd be able to maintain your composure? If you are a straight man fooled by a Transgender Woman, would you feel like less of a man? Do you think you'd ever be able to recover? Ladies if you were fooled by a Transgender Man, do you think you could look past the deceit and except your partner for who they are, or would you end the relationship once you find out? The LGBT Community is a pretty well structured, tight-knit community and they don't take kindly to mistreatment, abuse or discrimination. If you attack one in any way, shape or form, you may as well attack them all because they will come for you! But if an altercation occurs due to deceitfulness from the victim, is the attacker justified? One thing's for sure, 2 things for certain, pride and manhood is everything to an alpha male. Compromise them, some serious consequences could be in store! Things can get ugly fast. Is it common for a Trans Person to keep their true sexual identity a secret in the beginning out of fear of rejection, shame or a possible altercation breaking out? Tonight on "It's Real Talk Radio", we'll be discussing education, its importance, the state of the United States Public Schools and what it's like from an insider's perspective. What do we mean by an insider's perspective? Well tonight we'll be joined by special guest Kesia, who is a teacher for public schools. With several Master's Degrees and experience with teaching from elementary school all the way to college level, there's nobody better suited to have this discussion with. Kesia has seen it all in the classroom, from the highs to the lows and now she's here to share her views and experiences with you, the listeners! Kesia is also a criminal justice major and has experience as a Correctional Officer and Parole Officer. Having grown up as a military brat, Kesia has seen and experienced a lot. She has traveled to and resided in various cities, states and countries in her earlier years. Her life experiences along with her passion for people and the community are what helped motivate her to achieve academically and ultimately become the teacher and proud speaker she is today. What you can expect from tonight's discussion is a focus on the significance of education and achieving academically with an inside view on the state of the United States Public Schools System and how our kids are affected. Our goal is to not only talk about the issues, but to also try to figure out possible scenarios that could lead to solutions. Children are the future of our society and the significance of their education and upbringing are vital to everyone! After all, these are the future doctors, lawyers, judges, cops, fire fighters, engineers, mayors, governors, presidents, etc. of our country and the world! Does Pop Culture Glorify Single Parent Households? Jul 19, 2017

Tonight on "It's Real Talk Radio" we'll be discussing single parent households and the role pop culture plays in them. Some argue that pop culture is the # 1 endorser for single parent families. A lot of the music and television shows in pop culture seem to highlight the single parent movement. On one hand, it's good to see parents not make excuses, step up to the plate and do what they have to do to provide and give their children the best lives possible. On the other hand, glorifying single parents could help sway young adults to procreate without having unconditional love amongst each other and a set game plan on how the children will be provided for if things don't work out. To make matters even worse, some procreate with no intention in being a full family. Young adults and teens can be easily influenced from what they hear on the radio, what they see on TV and what they observe on social media. These are the 3 main sources for Pop Culture. So where do you stand? Do you think Pop Culture has influenced young adults and teens to not think out the consequences and hardships of single parenting? Should the blame go more towards the upbringing of these young adults and teens, or does Pop Culture deserve any blame at all? Being a single parent can add a lot of stress to a parent. We've seen some parents go as far as putting their kids up for adoption, dropping them off to family then disappearing, or even leaving them on a random person's doorstep, never to be heard from again. This is an ongoing problem that our society faces every day! We'll also be discussing the term 'Single Parent' and if we should use a more specific term to define a parent's role in their child's life. There's a lot to talk about tonight. Do Best Friends Make Good Couples? Jul 12, 2017

Tonight on "It's Real Talk Radio" we'll be debating on if best friends make for good couples. Best friends hooking up isn't something out the norm. A lot of best friends have hooked up and some have even managed to remain great friends after the relationship didn't work out. But is that a good idea? If you hooked up with your best friend and it didn't work out, could you see yourself reverting back to best friends or even friends at all? Is pursuing a romantic relationship really worth risking the bond you have with your best friend? We see relationships with best friends lead to marriage and ending with happily ever after all the time..... And then the credits start to roll up. So the chances of it working are great, in films. But are they good odds in real life? Some would argue yea well others would say nay. We have to also make note that just because you consider your partner to be your BFF, doesn't mean you entered the relationship that way. It's more common for people to consider their partner to be their best friend after they have already become romantically involved and some would argue that isn't settling down with your best friend because you would have had to be best friends beforehand. Whichever side of the fence you stand on, this obviously makes for an interesting and controversial debate, which is why we've decided to make it tonight's topic.
