Episode 116: Ashley Opliger May 11, 2021

Ashley Opliger is the President and Executive Director of Bridget’s Cradles 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Wichita, Kansas. Her daughter, Bridget Faith, was stillborn at 24 weeks gestation in 2014. Ashley’s mother had knit a small cradle for Bridget that allowed their family to hold her in a special way on the day she was born. After realizing there was a need for hospitals and bereaved families to have a dignified, functional way to hold tiny babies born into Heaven in the second trimester, Ashley left her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist and started the ministry in her daughter’s empty nursery.

Under Ashley’s leadership, Bridget’s Cradles has grown in five years from first donating cradles to their local hospital to now serving over 1,025 hospitals in all 50 states. From their own headquarters space, Bridget’s Cradles now comforts over 26,000 bereaved families each year.

Ashley is married to Matt and they have three children: Bridget (in Heaven), Branton, and a baby boy on the way. She is a fully-devoted follower of Christ who desires for women to find faith to embrace a beautiful broken life.

I graduated from Brenau University with my degree in Business Management and I currently work in HR and Development for a local non profit that serves the youth and families in our county. My passion is women’s ministry and empowering and encouraging wives and moms! I have been married to my wonderful husband, Daniel for 8 years and we have two amazing daughters, Bristol who is 7 and Stevie who is 6. We love spending time together as a family and board games and card games. I absolutely love coffee any way I can get it and I love a good coffee date! I jokingly tell people if I could have coffee dates everyday for the rest of my life as an occupation I would do it!

She has a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Baptist University and is Co-Founder of the online publication The Refined Woman and host of The Refined Collective Podcast. She has also been a full-time photographer for the last decade with her work being featured in: Vanity Fair, GQ, Forbes, People, Who What Wear, US Weekly, and Glamour UK.

She believes in the power of story, that done is better than perfect, quality triumphs quantity, and that every opportunity is an opportunity for growth if we choose it to be.

A graduate of UT Austin, Nick Brandt began a career in the corporate marketplace consulting before following a calling to into full-time vocational ministry. Nick uses his diverse skillset and energy to consult and partner with organizations, ministries, and churches to accomplish their missions and serve their needs. His expertise lies mainly in collegiate and young adult ministries, event direction and management, and ministry development and growth. He has worked on staff for The Flippen Group (FlippenGroup.com), Young Life (Younglife.org), and Passion Conferences (passionconferences.com), and many years leading the collegiate ministry at Passion City Church (passioncitychurch.com) under the direction of Louie Giglio. In 2017, Nick helped plant an Acts 29 church, The Well Austin (TheWellAustin.com), and completed his Masters degree in Christian Leadership and Biblical studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. Currently he serves as a senior director at Pulse (Pulse.org) – a millennial-led evangelistic organization focusing on innovative campaigns to make Jesus known – and is the founder and director at The Gathering ATX (thegatheringatx.com) - monthly gatherings of worship, word, and prayer in the heart of UT Austin. Most people may also be surprised to find out he has over 25+ years working professionally as an actor, model, and host within the national entertainment industry.

Once a young mom who suffered from alcohol and drug addiction, Cindy now is a passionate speaker, author, and Bible teacher of two Bible studies for women (Red Hot Faith and Live Full Walk Free), as well as the Executive Director of GEMS, a non-profit ministry impacting the lives of thousands of girls worldwide.

Cindy lives in West Michigan with her husband, John and their four children. Her passions include: Jesus, coffee, confetti, her family, and believing that being real is the only way to live. You may also find Cindy walking her two naughty puppies, who like to make messes and eat the most unusual things.
