Ken Brixius wrote in the shownotes: "Been enjoying the podcasts since #1. Usually listen to several hours at a time while traveling to VA appointments. Very interesting blurb about you with #285. I was stationed in Vicenza, IT a bit before your time there, 1976-78. What is extremely interesting is that the post, Ederle, has absolutely no record of my company ever being there. 62nd Engineer Company was the only Atomic Demolition company, ever! 4th building on the left as you pass the main gate."

Johnny Berry commented on Patreon: "Marc....your podcast are always good, but this one is the best that ya have ever done (in my opinion) THANK YOU"

Eric Atkinson wrote in the shownotes: "I'm working and living in Pyongyang, North Korea. I don't get TV or radio and I have very limited internet access. I rely on DVDs and podcasts for home entertainment. While on a breather trip to Beijing, I downloaded a lot of Irish and Celtic music podcasts and I listen to at least one every day. I'm listening to one now. Thanks for providing such great entertainment. It's really appreciated in this challenging place to live. Keep up the good work. p.s. I also play Celtic flute and with the lots of time I have to practice, I'm getting quite good. I've got my first private concert next Saturday. So, Irish and Celtic music will be played live on the International Compound in Pyongyang, North Korea next weekend.

Liam Smith posted on Facebook: "While listening to your podcast #284, 2-Hours of On Fire Celtic Music, my wife and I were quite taken with Innisfall's song, My Lagan Love. I didn't hesitate to order the MP3s from Amazon.com, and of course, I sent them a note to let them know where I found their music. Then, of course, I had to read all about them on their website. I'm well pleased!"

Ray Chatterton posted on Facebook: "My last name is Chatterton and you cannot get much more English than that, but from my father's side of the family I have Irish, Welsh, Scottish, and a wee bit of German mixed in. Thus my love of this music. I found you by accident, but I adhere to the concept that there are no accidents ... there is only some purpose that we haven't yet understood."

John Thompson emailed: "Just a quick e-mail after listening to show #279. Another great one! A listener commented on the band Scythian. It's pronounced Sith' ee in. They're from the DC area. The founding band members (two brothers and now a sister) actually have Ukrainian heritage. They play quite an assortment of music including Celtic and folk -- traditional, covers, and original material. A band you really need to see live to fully appreciate the energy they bring to their shows. Old Tin Can I think was their latest studio album but they followed that with a live cd called Old Time Good Time Tour. Give it a listen if you get the chance. Keep up the great work!"

Steven Rausch emailed: "You ask what we do when listening to the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast. Well, I'm in the home stretch of a painting project on my 130-year-old farmhouse. I fire up my headset with your podcast, working my way from the newest to the ones I've enjoyed previously. A great way to work and makes the job go faster and easier. Also, I wanted to highlight a tune by the Elders, "Appalachian Paddy," from a recent podcast. It's a long one but a great story of how the Irish came to my part of the country. Talk about an earworm. Thanks for your work and for making mine go much better."

Great Celtic Music Hiding at Renaissance Festivals #283 Nov 10, 2016
    Show notes

If you love acoustic Celtic music, you will find no better place to find great Celtic music than at Renaissance Festivals. Yes, I know the Celts had nothing to do with the "Renaissance", but Celtic music is one of the most-popular musical styles found at Ren faires. It's one of the last places where you can find true folk music without electric instruments or drum kits. Today, you'll hear a lot of great Celtic songs and a few tunes from Sarah Marie Mullen, The Poxy Boggards, Kilted Kings, Abby Green, Andrew McKee, The Ravens, 3 Pints Gone, Grey Aengus, Shillelagh!, Celtic Squall, Alabannach, The New Minstrel Revue, Cantiga, Minstrosity, Bounding Main, Lost Boys, Three Quarter Ale.

Donna Holstine Vander Valk posted on Facebook: "Well, I've just happily pledged - I've been considering it a while, but when I saw you were $1 away from your goal.....well, it was just too tempting! Thanks for all your hard work. It is truly appreciated in Calgary, Canada."

Annie Lorkowski posted on Facebook: "Hello Marc! You asked for photos from my recent Ireland trip... We took the ferry from Wales to Dublin, then the train to Galway, and a driving tour of the Connemara. We went pony trekking on the beach outside of Clifden, and visited the stunning Kylemore Abbey (here in the photo). I discovered your podcast after my first trip to Ireland, to keep the Irish inspiration in me until I got a chance to go back. And as I was listening to show #279, "Cead Mille Failte" was playing as my plane home flew over the Emerald Isle, and I must admit I got a little teary-eyed. Thanks for all you do and for inspiring me to go back."

Kelly Rogers emailed: "Marc, I listened to your latest podcast about Irish music albums for kids and my first thought was to the band Scythian. Several years ago Alec and Dan the founding brothers of Scythian, released a kids album for their 25 nieces and nephews called Cake For Dinner. It's a nice mix of traditional Irish songs like South Australia and The Littlest Jig, as well as folk and campfire songs from the U.S., French Canadian, Italian, and Ukrainian. Check it out at http://cakefordinnermusic.com. Plus their newest album Old Tin Can, is a return to their folk roots. A great band for all ages. At last Friday's show in Philadelphia there was a 3yr old girl rocking out with her family. Thanks for the great podcasts and have a Happy St. Patrick's Day."

Kyle Wagner-Dixon emailed last year: "I am a dog groomer from Ontario, Canada and I've been listening to your podcast now for almost 6 years. Through you and your show I discovered a new depth to a world which I loved, but never knew was so varied. I am, of course, talking about celtic music. After listening to my first episode, I became immediately addicted to the wonderful music. Through iTunes I bought many a song that I heard on my podcast. Now, my iPod has about 60 hours of music. That is 2 1/2 days. I am definitely an addict of Celtic Music and am proud of it. May Hekate light the shadowed paths in your life"

Patrick emailed from Rochester, NY: "Hi, Marc! My name is Patrick and I'm a young teen from New York. My grandfather introduced me to Celtic music and by the time I was 5 I could sing most of the drinking songs ever written. You asked for feedback so here it is: You should play more songs and less tunes. Don't get me wrong, jigs polkas and reels can be great but 40 minutes of them get boring after a little while. Overall though, it's a great podcast and you're an awesome host! P.S. I always swing while I listen to music. My grandfather always did it when I was little and since I have Aspergers Syndrome it helps calm my nerves. PPS: I recommend playing more music from Poxy Boggards and more from the Wolf Tones. Also, check out the Irish Brigade on YouTube for some great funny rebel songs! Bye!"

Every year, I take a small group of Celtic music fans to exotic locations around the world. We don't travel in big tour buses and see everything. Instead, we stay in one area. We get to Know the region through its culture, history, and legends. Plus, I bring you some great Celtic music by me and other Celtic artists. We're going to Brittany in 2017. I'm hoping that will be a new regular feature.

Meisters Realm posted on Facebook: "I'm enjoying the music tonight! I've been listening to podcast # 274 while I'm updating the dates of the nation's Ren and Scotfests on my directory website."

Bye!"
