This week we get upset at Youtube, it's going to cost a lot to keep those Knives Out, John Romita Jr. comes home, one guy really like Endgame, we dig in the Versus subgenre of horror films by looking at 2003's Freddy vs. Jason and see how successful it was with having two iconic 80's slashers go head to head, and Steve gets a case of Breakfast Cereal March Madness and has to determine which cereal mascot comes out on top.

This week we are joined by friend of the show and co-host of At The Devil's Ball, Nathaniel, to dig into the four hour marathon that is Zack Snyder's Justice League. We talk about what works, what doesn't, and question why some changes were made either way. Oh, and for a first time on the show, all swear words are allowed. We continue on our Year of the Sequel talk by looking at a sequel that now exists in two forms. 1980's Superman II was mostly completed by Richard Donner but taken away from him by the producers and was largely reshot. We discuss what occurred around the original theatrical release Superman II and the we take a look at the 2006 mostly restored vision that Donner had for his sequel.

This week kick off our year long look at sequels with one that is very divisive for Steve, Tim Burton's Batman Returns. We talk first about the success of the original Batman film and how Tim Burton wanted to do something 'different' with the next installment. We dig into the portrayals of Danny DeVito's Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman and Batman's Michael Keaton and if their translation from the page to the screen is successful. Ep. 248 - The Year of Animation: Persepolis (2007) Oct 01, 2020

This week we continue our Year of Animation by looking at the semi-autobiographical work about the life of Marjane Satrapi with 2007's Persepolis. This film tells the story of Marjane growing up in Tehran, Iran during the late 70's amid the Iranian Revolution and how she grew into womanhood under an oppressive new regime. This film is full of thought, heart, humor, and sadness and is worthy of watching. We try our best to do it justice with our discussion. Also, we talk about parrots that swear a lot (unrelated to the film but fun).

This week Snyder's complete film isn't as complete as he let on, we can see John Cena as Peacemaker, Dreamhaven is where a lot of people are going after Blizzard, we crack open some Elsinore beers and talk about the very Canadian adventures of Bob and Doug Mackenzie in 1983's Strange Brew and Steve has to guess which craft pop culture beers are real or fake.

Mima is a popstar that wants to become an actress but there are outside (and potential inside) forces at work against her. We are joined on this episode with special guest El Goro of the Talk Without Rhythm Podcast, a friendly giant that also will eat the occasional car, to explore this wonderful gem of a film that has a lot more going for it than at first glace.
