You don’t need to be disciplined or determined in order to get your shit done, but you must be DEVOTED.
Devotion is a mix of love, loyalty and enthusiasm. You must LOVE the experience AS you live it, be loyal and consistent to doing it in a way that aligns to your truest self, and deeply excited and lit up by the experience.
Devotion is also having the sustainable energy for the things that light you up because they matter to you the most.
You have a four-ingredient Signature Cocktail for intoxicating your life. When we’re lit up and intoxicated, we’re simultaneously DEVOTED to experiences and habits that align with our best selves.
The first ingredient in any Signature Cocktail is a “spirit” or type of liquor. Our “spirit” is being lit up, inspired, or animated.
Feeling lit up and inspired creates the devotion you need to show up for your habits, routines, and rituals.
When an opportunity or experience lights you up or animates you, you will be magnetically pulled to the experience because it is a full-body HELL YES. Once you’re lit up, you’re able to create habits, routines, and rituals that will allow you to sustain the experience.
The second and third ingredients in a Signature Cocktail are a powerful fusion of:
- a hint of sweet like a simple syrup, tonic, or juice
- a touch a sour like a squeeze of lemon or lime
The fusion of these two flavors enhance the cocktail.
Your sweet/sour is an emotional theme:
- satisfaction/frustration
- success/bitterness/resentment
- peace/anger
- delight/surprise/disappointment
Your “sweet” reminds you that you’re in alignment with your true self. Your “sour” invites you to get curious about the role your Inner Critic is playing in your life.
The fourth ingredient in a Signature Cocktail is the garnish. The garnish is never an after-thought - it is an integral part of the experience of enjoying the craft cocktail.
We, too, must “garnish” our lives with ENJOYMENT. When we experience enjoyment, we are seeped IN a joy mindset.
I invite you to consider these questions:
- What lights me up and inspires me?
- When do I feel deeply satisfied, successful, peaceful, delighted, or surprised?
- When do I feel frustrated, bitter, resentful, angry, or disappointed?
- What do I genuinely and whole-heartedly enjoy?
