Overcoming Overcommitment
In today’s age and culture, it's easy to get caught up in a lot of busyness. Just about everybody is busy, and we often do much more than we’re capable of. We all want to succeed. We all want to overcome obstacles on our path. We all want to win and achieve our goals, but as women, wives, and moms, we are more prone to doing so much. Our to-do list and demands of the day are often too long that we find ourselves overcommitting even when we’re unaware of it. When we start missing dates, missing deadlines, dropping balls, and feeling detached from the people we love, that’s when we are probably doing too much. It’s important to remember that God calls us to rest, too. Psalm 127:2 tells, “It’s in vain for us to rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for He grants sleep to those He loves.” So if you feel guilty about pushing yourself so hard, you are not alone. Most of us are guilty of overcommitting, not being present enough, and wearing ourselves out (also unintentionally allowing the enemy to wear us out). However, we have to get back to the Word of God which reminds us to rest. God rested. Genesis 2:2 tells us, “God rested on the seventh day after He finished His work of creation.”
Join the conversation with your host, Courtnaye Richard, as she shares ways we overcommit and push ourselves over the limit and how we can overcome overcommitment while fulfilling our God-given purpose. She shares that we can experience a beautiful balance between work and rest.

Scriptures and Quotes:
•We all know when we feel overcommitted, that time when we’re feeling extremely exhausted, fatigued, spent, and our calendar is bursting.
•When we say yes to more things than we need to say yes to, we get overcommitted.
•When we’re overextended and not well rested, we become cranky and mean; and we’re not good people to be around.
•Get some shutdown time, relax and enjoy your home life.
•We’ve got to be sober and alert; the enemy wants to wear us out not just with trials and persecution of our faith, but also through busyness.
•Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we’re God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, and we should walk in them.
•We’ve got work to do, and the enemy knows that, so he is going to try to get us to overcommit.
•Galatians 6:9 encourages, “Don’t grow weary in well doing for in due season you shall reap. if you faint not.”
•Know your limit and how much you can take on; if you’re going too fast, overcommitted, doing too much, or pushing it over the limit, you will hurt people along the way. Don’t crash and burn. Pay attention to your life and know your capacity.
