EVOLUTION: When to stop seeking spiritual info and tools Nov 25, 2023
    Show notes

Are you often (or even constantly) looking for new spiritual knowledge, tools, or resources? Do you know when to stop, so you can integrate everything you've learned so far and apply it in your life?

It's so important to keep seeking, to keep evolving, to keep doing our inner work. At the same time, we want to make sure we're not doing this compulsively, or as a form of spiritual bypassing or escapism.

In this episode of EVOLUTION, I talk about:

    • how to recognize any patterns of using spirituality or spiritual pursuits to try to avoid reality, uncomfortable feelings, or genuine healing work
    • how to avoid becoming "spiritually constipated" (awesome words from a listener email I answer in this episode)
    • how to do a spiritual and energetic "decluttering" for yourself
    • how to trust your inner knowing more, instead of looking for answers or wisdom outside yourself

I'm sending lots of gratitude to Penny for writing in with this thoughtful topic.

Inner Work Special Episode (Leftovers by Rajinee Buquing) Nov 19, 2023
    Show notes

I'm so thrilled and humbled by how our podcast community is growing in meaningful ways.

Brilliant musical artist Rajinee Buquing (working under the name sayang) is a long-time listener of this podcast and has created a song inspired by Inner Work. The song is called Inner Work (Intro) + Leftovers.

I want to share this song with you and introduce you to Rajinee -- a deeply thoughtful, talented, lovely person who is daring to be authentically herself in this world, despite the pressures and expectations she has faced to be someone other than who she is. I know you will be moved by her message (and her voice, which is a divine gift!).

To connect with me (Josephine), go to https://josephinehardman.com or send a note to me@josephinehardman.com

Thank you for being here, and please keep doing your inner work! May we all give ourselves permission to express who we truly are. In doing so, we give others that freedom as well.

Inner Work 167: Develop a working relationship with fear (and stress, anxiety, discomfort, worry, etc.) Nov 15, 2023
    Show notes

"The ability to process anxiety in a healthy way is critical to maintaining your quality of life. Anxiety is a reflection of your body chemistry changes when you are in an arousal state. Anxiety is both normal and necessary – it will never disappear. The harder you try to suppress anxiety, the stronger it will become. Thus, avoiding anxiety becomes its own stressor." - Dr. David Hanscom

With this episode of INNER WORK, I seek to normalize fear, anxiety, and discomfort as natural parts of our human experience.

Rather than trying to get rid of, fix, run away from, or ignore any of these normal human sensations and experiences, I will guide you in developing a "working relationship" with them - so you can live a joyful, free, abundant life while peacefully accepting the presence of these inevitable emotions (when they show up... because they will).

As an example, I share how I've developed a "working relationship" with imposter syndrome, in my own life and business.

EVOLUTION: Where are your boundaries? Nov 11, 2023
    Show notes

    Boundaries.

Where are yours? How are you at setting clear boundaries in your life? How comfortable do you feel enforcing them?

This episode will take you into an exploration of boundaries - what they are, what they mean, how they can help you, and why we often have a hard time setting them.

I also talk about the difference between external boundaries (boundaries you set with other people / the world) and internal boundaries (boundaries you set with yourself, internally).

As a companion to this episode, I've created a 60-minute guided healing journey called Healthy Boundaries: Clearing and Claiming Your Space in the World. It will help you clear, reclaim, and set healthier boundaries in 4 spaces you inhabit: your mental space, emotional space, physical body, and physical environment. To access that resource, go here:

Inner Work 166: How are you responding to the world? Nov 01, 2023
    Show notes

How are you responding to the world around you, and to the things that happen in your life? What are your default, knee-jerk reactions when something unexpected, unpleasant, or challenging happens?

This episode of INNER WORK will help you investigate your unconscious and automatic responses to life, where they originate, and how you can begin to soften them. I cover:

    • 5 unconscious ways of responding to life: being constantly jumpy or nervous (i.e., hypervigilance), internalizing, externalizing, freezing up, and hyperproductivity
    • why and how these types of responses are developed in the first place
    • how these unconscious responses are meant to protect us (even if they are misguided)
    • my own struggles with hyperproductivity - and what I do to return to a place of calm, conscious awareness

EVOLUTION: The emotional work of building a spiritual or healing business Oct 27, 2023
    Show notes

You must often face your own patterns, limitations, and triggers as you grow a spiritual or healing business. Working as a healer, coach, or spiritual practitioner requires you to continually heal yourself, release old patterns, and keep evolving - so you can show up for the people you serve at your highest level.

In this episode of EVOLUTION, I talk about the emotional work required in growing a spiritual business. I address:

    • the triggering event in my own business that sparked this episode (what the trigger was and how I dealt with it)
    • dysfunctional patterns that can come up as you grow your spiritual business and work with clients, including imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and second-guessing yourself
    • WHY doing emotional work on ourselves is required for us healers, coaches, and spiritual practitioners
    • how to begin showing up at your highest level, so you can powerfully serve your clients (and make the work you do more rewarding)

If you're committed to growing your business and serving others through transformational healing work, I invite you to consider my Akashic Records Certification Program:

Inner Work 165: You're a weirdo and I am too (interplanetary souls and not feeling at home on Earth) Oct 18, 2023
    Show notes

You're a weirdo. I'm a weirdo too. Our weirdness is our power.

In this episode, I talk about how it feels to be an interplanetary soul and to experience the loneliness that often comes along with it.

I created this podcast for you if:

    • you often feel like you don't quite belong on Earth
    • you often feel "homesick" or like planet Earth is not your home base
    • you're confused or baffled by how humans do things (especially politics, money, relationships, living in linear time)
    • you grew up feeling like a weirdo or outcast, even within your own family, peer group, or hometown
    • you're a highly sensitive, empathic Soul

EVOLUTION: Are you looking for answers outside yourself? Oct 14, 2023
    Show notes

Are you looking for answers outside yourself? Believing others know best or that your own inner knowing isn't enough?

Perhaps you're overly focused on others' opinions and ideas about what you should do or how you should live your life. Or feeling like you can't make decisions without asking for lots of input from others.

Sometimes, we turn to spiritual tools or modalities to try to get answers to our most pressing questions, and to help us make decisions. This is a wonderful thing to do, and we must also be mindful of not giving our power away to these tools or modalities.

In this episode, I address this pattern of looking for answers outside of ourselves, how to identify if you're doing that in your life, and how to begin trusting yourself more.

Inner Work 164: Loving your body through sickness, aging, and other changes Oct 05, 2023
    Show notes

What's your relationship with your body? Are you honoring, caring for, and embracing where your body is right now? Or do you feel at odds with your body, struggling against it, trying to override its needs?

This episode of INNER WORK is all about developing a healthier, more loving, more compassionate relationship with your body - wherever it is right now. This can be challenging when our bodies are sick, uncomfortable, aging, not feeling well, or have undergone some other changes.

Your body is, ultimately, the sacred home for your Soul in this lifetime. The more you can cherish it, the more peace and well-being you'll create in your life.

    Join me as I discuss:

    • my own recent experience of illness, which inspired this episode
    • how to be more comfortable with physical (or emotional) discomfort
    • how to do Somatic Tracking to find relief from physical pain, discomfort, or other symptoms
    • how to speak to your body in a more nourishing, loving way
