    In Fact with Chelsea Clinton

What do vaccines, stigma, climate change and sex have in common? They all relate to our public health.    Covid-19 isn’t the only public health crisis we’ve faced. It’s not even the only one we face right now. What led us to this moment, what have we learned, what did we get right (and wrong), and how can we do better?   As we navigate a pandemic, and a moment that’s rife with conspiracy theories and misinformation, Chelsea is getting the facts.    Each week on In Fact, Chelsea Clinton sits down with experts, activists and a few surprising guests who share Chelsea’s passion for science, evidence and yes, facts. Along the way, they’ll open the world of public health through shared stories, their work, connect the dots between the past and present moment, and help us understand that, now more than ever, public health affects us all.

Women in Public Office (w/ Senator Tammy Baldwin) Mar 01, 2022
    Show notes

This week, Chelsea is sitting down with Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin to look at women in public office – what it means to be the first, the progress we’ve made toward equality, and what needs to happen next.

When Tammy Baldwin was elected to the House in 1998, she became Wisconsin’s first female member of Congress and the first openly LGBTQ person to run for and win a Congressional seat. In 2012, she became the state’s first female Senator and the first openly LGBTQ member of the Senate. And in 2018, she was re-elected with more than 55% of the vote. Throughout her career, she has championed reforms in healthcare—including mental health—infrastructure, manufacturing, and education. And she’s proved to little girls and boys alike that women and members of the LGBTQ community more than belong at every level of government.
