    Imperfect Strangers

Amanda, a graphic designer from OH, invited Melissa, a NY stay-at-home mom on her podcast. Melissa, who has been hunkered down for decades after a cool but soul-crushing brush with fame on MTV’s Real World New Orleans, didn’t really do this sort of thing but Amanda seemed nice. They recorded twice due to technical difficulties, but ended up chatting for hours. Who the fuck talks on the actual phone? They do! Two strangers getting to know each other the old-fashioned way. Get to know Melissa all over again as she gets to know Amanda for the first time. Bonus! One’s white and one ain’t.

Where to begin! Our two stranger-friends bond like superglue on this one. Chris gave Amanda shit about her junk drawer and WHOOOO could Melissa relate. Justin hates that drawer too. Melissa spent some time on a lake (gasp!) and so the dynamic duo ends up tackling MAGA because for some reason this lake was in the middle of Trump nation. More like Make America Gross Again, AMIRITE? You won’t want to miss the Monday Night Live for this one! PERIODT!

Most importantly, Amanda introduces Melissa to a walking taco. There’s also a discussion on remote learning which is on the horizon. They discuss how to make mom friends which Melissa won’t do well with if she wants to continue bullying folks in the FB group. Plus, Melissa hates a fedora. Amanda ain’t mad at it.

For Better or For Worse Aug 21, 2020

Melissa and Amanda scrapped three conversations before settling on this one where they pretend they’re not depressed. Our stranger-friends discuss the age-old pastime of getting dressed. Oooh! Plus, even though Mr Amanda doesn’t wash the chicken before he cooks it, it’s revealed he’s an intensely thoughtful spouse so Melissa forbids Amanda from ever having a bad day again.

Amanda has to pivot and figure out a new way to celebrate her husband’s 40th birthday and their wedding anniversary which originally required travel but cool pandemic! Our two stranger friends also discuss W.A.P. Amanda says she’s “here for it.” Melissa prefers songs about cocaine trafficking and violence to songs about vaginas and cervical fluids.

The Kids Are NOT Alright Aug 07, 2020
    Show notes

Melissa feels bad that her kids are sad so she decides to brave a trip to Five Below for candy and coloring books. That was a bust so Amanda gives her tips on how to deal with the panic attack aftermath. “What do you see? What’s the worst case scenario?” The only problem with this strategy is Melissa only sees coronavirus. Elsewhere in this amazing episode, Amanda hates cooking and luckily for her, she married The Sexiest Man Alive who knows his way around a kitchen and makes flavorful meals that don’t taste like a pile of oregano! But does he wash his chicken first?

Melissa was roped into a socially distanced dinner with one of Amanda’s biggest fans. Later in the episode, our two stranger-friends disagree on sleepovers. Guess whose kid isn’t allowed to have them! They also get to know a lot about each other by discussing TV shows and movies they grew up watching. Let’s see if you’re getting to know these women by answering the following questions. Which Imperfect Stranger likes Anne of Green Gables? Which one is more into Friday? Hugs and Drugs Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

Melissa and Amanda have hit a goal with the podcast which feels like tiny success might be afoot. While exciting, it makes Melissa kinda uncomfortable, which brings the friendly strangers to a deep discussion about Amanda’s (now medicated) anxiety. Amanda describes seeking help for an unhealthy, obsessive routine she created to keep her kids healthy. Note: Melissa (currently not medicated) was jotting down the amazing routine, naturally, because with these two it’s a match, but kinda not. As mothers, they also discuss managing children who feel anxious or have been bullied.

C.R.E.A.M. (Covid Rules Everything Around Me) Jul 17, 2020

Melissa and Amanda talk about coronavirus, hence the episode title Covid Rules Everything Around Me. Our two stranger-friends can’t wrap their brains around the following: America’s inability to get a handle on this disease, schools reopening or liking Disney World enough to actually go. Ew. Furthermore, do you know what time it is? It’s Fuck Chance O’Clock so you’re right on time!

    You're Showering Too Much Jul 10, 2020
    Show notes

*SIRENS BLARING* One otherwise peaceful morning, Amanda texted Melissa a link to an article called “You’re Showering Too Much.” Little did Amanda know Melissa has dedicated at least a decade of her life loudly rejecting the science behind these clickbait articles. Amanda believes her “body is a biome.” Melissa believes that “every day this butthole exists,” she needs to take at least one shower. Is there any room for gray area or is this a black and white issue? Will our two stranger-friends hang up forever? Listen in to find out.

    A Whole Person Jul 03, 2020
    Show notes

It’s all fun and games until someone dies. On this episode, Melissa and Amanda revisit a previous conversation on miscarriage which ended with Amanda in tears. Our stranger-friends regroup to continue the discussion after some time away from it, thus creating safe space and understanding for each other. AWWW! They also explore signs and messages from lost loved ones. It’s a departure -- ziiiing. Get it! A departure from the normal conversation you’re accustomed to. Death and depth-- anyway, in short, it’s deep.
For this particular episode, there will be no interactive Instagram story. Instead, on the story feed, we will share resources for information on abortion, miscarriage and self-help. This topic should not be taboo, and everyone experiencing a loss should have a safe space to learn and process their feelings on it.
