As Brian and Dale embarked on the next stage of their legal journey, the deposition loomed ahead like an unavoidable hurdle. For those unfamiliar, a deposition is a formal legal procedure where witnesses and involved parties provide sworn testimony outside of the courtroom setting. It serves as an opportunity for both sides to document testimonies for potential use during trial proceedings.

Here’s the thing about mediation… It only works if both parties are willing to negotiate. Yet, in the Karmie brothers' case, they found themselves locked in a delicate dance, negotiating against their own convictions as the mediator shuttled between them and their adversaries. Despite laying bare all their cards, the mediator shared an unsettling verdict: resolution seemed unattainable without either a settlement or a trial.

Picture this: it's the spring of 2007, and Dale and Brian already deeply entangled in one lawsuit, suddenly find themselves in yet another legal debacle. In today's episode, the brothers open up about this second legal ordeal, in which a customer was now making a claim against them.

As they made their way through the mediation process, they quickly learned that the goal of a civil lawsuit was not justice; it was to bring resolution between the two parties. The Karmies had two options - continue and pursue justice in a trial that would be very costly, or pay a settlement and be done with it.

Dale and Brian wrestled with the question - Why would they pay when they had done nothing wrong?

What do you do when the best part of your business becomes the worst part of your business?

In late 2005 and early 2006, the volume sold in the California market had come to a grinding halt. A once thriving market was now yielding no volume. What had gone wrong?

Brian and Dale began to look into this situation and were alarmed by what they found. In an effort to help revive a once flourishing market, the brothers agreed to service the sub-dealers as dealers directly, receiving orders, placing orders, and shipping products to the 5 or 6 sub-dealers, allowing the original dealer to keep the profit and enabling him to focus on selling more volume.

Thinking they were aligned, Dale and Brian proceeded with their plan. However, a month later, the California dealer expressed dissatisfaction, claiming changes were made to the agreement without his consent. Brian gave him an ultimatum: adhere to the agreed plan or terminate the exclusive dealer agreement in 60 days.

After giving the dealer these options, they received communication from his attorney. Dale and Brian would never have guessed what would happen next.

So tune in for more on this cautionary tale, and stay tuned through the upcoming season as the brothers dive into what became a decade-long legal battle.

In this episode, the brothers take us on a journey through the inaugural Achievers’ trip ForeverLawn had back in 2007. From having the ‘Couple’s Olympics’ to going on a sketchy zipline, this trip was nothing short of eventful. You’ll surely enjoy some laughs as they recount some of the more interesting experiences they had on the trip.

Almost 17 years later, the annual Achievers’ Trip lives on and stands as a tangible reward for dealers to strive towards throughout the year. While the trip itself is a blast, Dale and Brian agree that the comradery and relationships that are forged and strengthened every year are the best part.

Do you remember where you were 17 years ago today?

In this fun episode, the Karmie brothers share about a memorable vacation they took 17 years ago, today, with their families in Angel Fire, New Mexico. One of the things that set this trip apart from previous ones was that it was the first vacation the families had taken together that had no ties to business.

Like any other Karmie brother trip, this one was full of adventures. Many memories were made, from driving through a freak snowstorm in Albuquerque to a close-call sled ride. Dale and Brian fondly reminisce about their most memorable trip moments while reminding us of the importance of making time for family.

When building a business, sacrifices are inevitable. Time, finances, and many other elements may need to be relinquished, yet amidst these trade-offs, it's crucial to never compromise your family. Achieving success can be a lonely road without the presence and support of your loved ones by your side.
