In November of 2011, a mother in Nova Scotia comes home to work to find her daughter on the kitchen floor, rocking and sobbing. Leah stood in the kitchen doorway listening to her teenage daughter Rehtaeh disclose the events of a sexual assault, the events as she could remember them. Rehtaeh could vaguely remember the digital shutter click of a cell phone at some point that night, but she didn’t find out until earlier that day, at school, that a photo was taken by one of the boys and it was being texted and forwarded through the school. The photo was of one of the boys engaged in a sexual act with Rehtaeh as Rehtaeh was leaning out an open window throwing up. Rehtaeh was nude from the waist down and the boy in the picture flashing a thumbs up to the camera. This assault and photograph sparked a chain of events that changed the family forever. In 1967, Ronnie Anderson died in what was determined to be a suicide. He was only 17 years old. Nearly 36 years later, his father Dan Anderson was found in his driveway, dead from what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Phyllis--Ronnie’s sister and Dan’s daughter--believes that both deaths were actually murder and they both go back to a group known as the Dixie Mafia. The Murder of Eric Levack Apr 25, 2018

On April 1, 2003, Canada enacted the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which replaced the existing Young Offenders Act. Also on that day, 14 year old Justin Morton murdered his classmate Eric Levack in the woods outside of their high school, immediately putting Canada’s new law to the test. This year marks a milestone in Eric’s story. It has been 15 years since Eric’s death. Being that he was just 14 years old when he was murdered, this year marks the year he has been gone longer than he was here. The death of DJ Fickey Apr 10, 2018

On October 3, 2016, the Walker County sheriff’s department responded to a 911 call from a home in rural Flintstone, Georgia a little past 1 in the afternoon. According to the caller, a man had grabbed a shotgun and shot himself in the head. The police arrived and found two people outside the trailer and, inside, they found 27 year old DJ Fickey deceased on a loveseat. But due to constantly changing stories from witnesses, investigators became suspicious that this was actually a potential homicide. When the DA declined to press charges, DJ’s sister Amanda began her own campaign to seek justice for DJ. The death of Martha Morgan Mar 30, 2018

On Feb 19, 2011, Dennis Morgan called 911. The first thing he said was that his wife had committed suicide. Martha was found on her stomach in her bedroom, a single gunshot wound to the chest. The death was ruled a suicide but their daughter Dennisa believes that this was the culmination of 40 years of domestic violence and that her father got away with murder. The Unsolved Murder of Jeff Rogers Mar 21, 2018

Around midnight on April 9, 2008, Kansas City, Kansas dispatch received a 911 call from Jeff Rogers. He had been beaten, shot, and stabbed but used what strength he had left to call for help. He later died, but not before giving police a description of his attackers. It is nearly 10 years later and Jeff’s murder remains unsolved.
