Impact of Influence: The Murdaugh Family Murders and Other Cases

The Murdaugh family was one of South Carolina’s most powerful legal families. Three generations of Murdaughs held the position of solicitor in the lowcountry for almost one hundred years.
In February of 2019 a boat crash killed 19 year old Mallory Beach. Paul Murdaugh, the son of prominent SC attorney, Alex Murdaugh, was charged with three felony counts of boating under the influence, including causing the death of Mallory Beach.
June 7, 2021 Alex Murdaugh found his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, brutally murdered, shot to death on their property known as Moselle.
On March 2, 2023 Alex was convicted of murdering Maggie and Paul.
Between the murders and the convictions many other crimes came to light.
No one could have expected the twists and turns the story has taken and it is not finished.

Amie Williams was the 12th juror during the Alex Murdaugh trial in which Alex was convicted of murdering his wife and son.

PT 6: The Death Penalty Phase of the Jimmy Robertson Trial Oct 16, 2024

In the sixth, and final episode, of the Jimmy Robertson series, you will hear the attorneys arguments for and against Robertson getting the death penalty.

In November of 1997, two days before Thanksgiving, Earl and Terry Robertson were brutally murdered by their son, Jimmy Robertson.

The story captivated the nation. The story of a well off couple being murdered by their math genius son caught the eye of the country.

The trial was covered gavel to gavel on CourtTV.

In the first episode of the series Matt and Seton gave you all that happened leading up to the gruesome murders, the scene of the crime, and the arrests that followed.

At the request of Jimmy, Moon went to the Robertson home, just hours before Jimmy brutally murdered his parents. She stayed downstairs while upstairs Jimmy was beating his father with a hammer and stabbing both of his parents multiple times.

Meredith Moon became a sympathetic figure in this horrific crime.

You will hear some of her testimony and you will hear from the prosecutor who handled Meredith Moon during the trial.
