    iFanboy – Comic Books

The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.

    Pick of the Week #502 - Batman #44 Sep 13, 2015
    Show notes

Okay, first of all, Josh Flanagan was traveling this week so sitting in for him is iFanboy buddy and grand poobah of ComicBook.com, Jim Viscardi. Second, Ron Richards was also traveling this week but he dialed in from his hotel and therefore his audio isn’t that great. We apologize for the hum. Third, there’s a lot of Star Wars talk this week. Like, a lot. Get used to it–we’ve got a long way to go until December 18th.

    Talksplode #66 - Mark Millar Sep 04, 2015
    Show notes

You know who Mark Millar is. He’s the creative superpower behind so many comics and by extension films made from those comics. Josh Flanagan had a great conversation with the writer behind The Ultimates, Old Man Logan, Wanted, Kick-Ass, Starlight, MPH, Jupiters Circle, Chrononauts, the upcoming Huck, and so many more, you might as well just go to Wikipedia. We talk to Mark about his work, his career from the very beginning, and what it’s like to be Mark Millar right now. It turns out, it’s pretty good. We chat about the idea that some accused Millar of only making comics to be made into movies, and where he stands on digital comics today. Settle in and enjoy the brogue. You can go to Millarworld to see everything Mark has going on, and follow him on twitter, @mrmarkmillar.

    Pick of the Week #497 - Airboy #3 Aug 09, 2015
    Show notes

Conor is off in Deutschland leaving Josh and Ron to fend for themselves with this week's comics. A startling streak for the meta drama of Airboy and the inevitable happens as Ron compares comics to baseball and then Josh compares them to The Daily Show.
