    iFanboy – Comic Books

The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.

We’re live! In person, at least! Conor Kilpatrick, Josh Flanagan, and Ron Richards got together in Los Angeles this week to record the show live together and that hasn’t happened in who knows how long. While apologies must be given for the lower level of quality of this week’s audio, the guys had tons of fun being in the same room together.

    Show notes

It's back! Thanks to our awesome Patrons, it's the return of the Booksplode! What's a Booksplode you might ask? It's a bi-monthly special edition podcast in which we take a look at a single graphic novel or collected edition, something we really just don't have time to do on the regular show. This month we are reviewing Dark Knight: A True Batman Story from writer Paul Dini and artist Eduardo Risso.

    Pick of the Week #552 – Aquaman #6 Sep 11, 2016
    Show notes

We’re all over the map this week with the comics talk. Lots of DC legacy discussion, some ratings, some bad jokes and a large amount of great art gets discussed. Plus floppy boots and memories of early 1980s King Arthur movies. Doesn’t get much better than that, does it? Conor thinks it does, and he thinks Aquaman is better than all that. But we know better, don’t we?

    Pick of the Week #551 – Lazarus #24 Sep 04, 2016

After last week’s email bacchanal, we’re back to the grind on a so called light 5th week. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a whole of excellent comics to get right to. Also, we find out, at long last, Ron’s incredible hidden talent, and take a trip down Josh’s memory lane. Also, the KISS song, and the emailer named Ace is a complete coincidence.

Thanks the iFanboy Patrons...Talksplode is back on a monthly release schedule! And we couldn’t be happier to kick things off with the creative team of Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman. Longtime collaborators in both life and comics, Bechko and Hardman moved into creator owned success with their sci-fi/political epic Invisible Republic. Josh Flanagan chats with them about working on licensed properties, their own original works and of course...pets.

With Conor still in search of the one-armed man, Ron calls in from an undisclosed location to join Josh for a discussion of the nuances of “I got this” along with talking about a selection of comics from the week. Plus Josh conflates the names of comic book creators, poorly. We don’t mention the ambient temperatures right at the end.

With one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year upon us, and the next chapter in the DC Universe, Conor Kilpatrick mysteriously disappears leaving Ron Richards and Mike Romo to try and make some sense of this...film. Lots of hope and wishes that Harley Quinn, Will Smith and a little bit of Batman Affleck will produce a fun time at the movies. Does it deliver? Listen and find out!
