    iFanboy – Comic Books

The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.

Talksplode #22 with John Romita Jr., artist of Kick-Ass and Avengers Apr 08, 2010
    Show notes

April 08, 2010 - John Romita Jr. has been an A-list artist for the past 30 years. Primarily known for his work at Marvel Comics with legendary runs on Uncanny X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man, Thor and many other projects like World War Hulk, The Sentry, The Punisher: War Zone and more, Romita Jr. has followed in the footsteps of his father, John Romita Sr., making great Marvel Comics. Recently, his foray into creator owned work with Mark Millar gave us Kick-Ass, the realistic/hyper violent tale of a kid who becomes a super hero. As we all know, Kick-Ass has been adapted into a movie by Matthew Vaughn and is set to be released next week. Josh Flanagan and Ron Richards jumped at the chance to chat with John Romita Jr.

    Show notes

March 25, 2010 - We're back on the horse people! After a long hiatus, Booksplode has returned, to talk, in depth about a particularly good graphic novel or comic collection, and now we're doing Starman Omnibus Vol. 2 with Josh Flanagan, Conor Kilpatrick, and Paul Montgomery. This book continues the stories set up by James Robinson back in the first volume, and expands Jack Knight's world and relationships exponentially. With regular art by Tony Harris, at the top of his game, and guest art from luminaries like JH Williams III, Chris Sprouse, Guy Davis, and more, this book is a joy to behold on almost every page. Get ready for a whole lot of praise for a whole lot of good comics.
