Grant's Rant: 5-10-23 Why is Huggins Still Employed May 10, 2023

Show notes

On Monday West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins went on a Cincinnati talk show and used a homophobic slur not once, but twice. Huggins was talking about the Cincinnati-Xavier rivalry and said "What it was, was all those f-gs, those Catholic f-gs, I think." West Virginia has issued a statement and said they are reviewing the situation. What's there to review? This isn't a Ben Mintz, or Glen Kuiper situation, both of who uttered the n-word in the past week. It was obvious the intent of Mintz, formerly of Barstool and Kuiper, the TV voice of the A's was not one of hatred. In the case of Huggins, how could anyone defend his comments?

Grant's Rant: 5-9-23 So Much For The Regular Season! May 09, 2023

Show notes

Both the Heat and Lakers are showing that that just making the playoffs is all that matters. Both teams won last night and both teams are one win away from their conference finals. The Heat were an 8th seed and the Lakers 7th.

Episode 253: Common Sense Out The Window May 09, 2023

Show notes

On today's episode I discuss common sense and how it is at a very low point in this country. I begin by reading a column from Phil Mushnick of the NY Post who writes about the absurdity of transgender women competing against women in sports. Phil writes about how common sense doesn't exist anymore. I then discuss the stories of Ben Mintz and Glen Kuiper. Mintz was fired by Barstool last week after speaking the n word while reading lyrics from a rap song. On Friday A's TV Voice, Glen Kuiper was discussing his visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum earlier in the day and said the n-word instead of Negro. Kuiper has been suspended and his future employment status is unknown. Both NBA Sports California and the Oakland A's threw Kuiper under the bus with their gutless statements. I read a column from David Hookstead of Outkick who hits it right on the head about how these two individuals have been swallowed up by the mob mentality in this country!

Grant's Rant: 5-8-23 Go Away Jalen Rose May 08, 2023

Show notes

How does Jalen Rose keep his job at ESPN? Actually, you could say that about many at ESPN. On Saturday, Rose said the Miami weather was a factor in the Knicks poor shooting while on ESPN's coverage of the Knicks-Heat series. The game was indoors correct? The team stayed in an air conditioned hotel yes? Or who knows...maybe they camped on one of the many beaches of South Florida. Just unbelievable!
