Grant's Rant: 8-23-21 Relax 49ers Fans Aug 23, 2021

Show notes

Amazing to me how so many San Francisco 49ers fans think Trey Lance should start week 1. Lance is a dynamic talent no doubt....has a tremendous arm and is athletic, but he's not ready to start. Don't be fooled by the preseason. Jimmy Garoppolo is the team's best chance for winning early. Look at the Miami Dolphins last season, or the Chargers. There is no rush. Relax would you please?

Episode 92: Bad To Worse When You Say I'm Sorry Aug 20, 2021

Show notes

I cover many things in this episode. I start off by talking about two new platforms I'll be on and how you can get involved. Then I cover the Jack Morris story. The Detroit Tigers announcer has been suspended by the team for mocking Shohei Ohtani of the Angels. Ohtani has since come out and said he wasn't offended. I also talk about apologies and how they seem to be meaningless in this country. You could make the argument things go from bad to worse when a person apologizes. Why is that? I give you my thoughts on that plus the Trevor Bauer court ruling yesterday in Los Angeles. Grant's Rant is on the Sacramento Kings winning Summer League.

Grant's Rant: 8-20-21 Summer League Thoughts Aug 20, 2021

Show notes

The Sacramento Kings won the Las Vegas Summer League. If that excites you get a life. What should excite you is how good Davion Mitchell played. I don't know if he'll be an all star, but the 9th overall pick from Baylor sure won't be a bust like so many other draft picks over the years. Bobby Jackson who coached the squad did an excellent job, but winning the SL means nothing. Time to get ready for the real season!

Grant's Rant: 8-19-21 NY Mets Owner With A Big Hit! Aug 19, 2021

Show notes

It has been my experience that the sports team owner is the least knowledgeable person in the room when it comes to their sport. The same can not be said of NY Mets owner Steve Cohen. He put out a tweet ripping his team for being so undisciplined at the plate! He's right...the Mets have been awful! Maybe it was a coincidence, but after the tweet the Mets scored 6 runs in their win vs the Giants snapping a five game losing streak!

Grant's Rant: 8-18-21 Pathetic MLB Base Running Aug 18, 2021

Show notes

What has happened to base running in Major League Baseball? Houston Astros Manager Dusty Baker was right...the base running is as bad as it's ever been. Almost every time I turn on a game I see mistakes on the base paths. Guys have been playing baseball since they were kids and yet still make mistakes running the bases on a fairly regular basis. My question is why? How hard can it be and what happened to running hard? I really don't get it!

Grant's Rant: 8-17-21 Sacramento Kings Fans Want Some Trades Aug 17, 2021

Show notes

Sacramento Kings fans are getting impatient. They want some action on the trade front. My response...relax. It's the middle of August. If we are having this discussion two months from now then ok. Do you believe the rumors that LeBron James nixed a Buddy Hield deal to the Lakers? Hield and Marvin Bagley appear to be on the market. The question is what would the Kings get in return? As they say, stay tuned!

Grant's Rant: 8-16-21 Absurdity In Chicago With Fields Overreaction Aug 16, 2021

Show notes

Talk about overreaction. Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears made his preseason debut against the Miami Dolphins Saturday. The rookie QB of Ohio St went 14-20 for 142yds and a TD. He also rushed the ball 5 times for 33 yards and a score. Some in the Chicago media and fans are hyping his performance as the greatest thing since deep dish pizza. Can we relax for a second? Can we at least watch Fields play in a regular season game before anointing him as a future Hall of Famer?

Episode 90: "There's Value In Everybody" Aug 13, 2021

Show notes

Ernie Johnson Jr of TNT recently addressed the Alabama football team. His message was simple. There's value in everybody. You will be able to listen to the entire speech, one of the best five minute messages I've ever heard. Ernie ended the speech by saying "be a better human". I also talk about Lift Every Voice and Sing, often referred to as the Black national anthem. I read excerpts both pro and con, from media members around the country. The Black national anthem will be played before every NFL regular season game this season.

Grant's Rant: 8-13-21 The Boredom of Preseason Football Aug 13, 2021

Show notes

After the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off the preseason at the Hall of Fame game all the NFL teams are in action this weekend. Are you really watching these games? Is there anything more boring than preseason football? Didn't we learn anything from last year that no preseason is a good preseason? You should be rooting for one thing...no injuries. That's what makes a good preseason!
