Grant's Rant: 2-3-23 Fox All-Star Snub Feb 03, 2023

Show notes

De'Aaron Fox of the Kings didn't make the all-star team? What a travesty! Yesterday the league announced the reserves and Fox was left off the squad. He is having a tremendous season and oh yeah, the Kings are third in the West! What a joke!

Episode 232: The Impact of Video Feb 03, 2023

Show notes

Have you ever thought of the impact of video? On today's episode I talk about Damar Hamlin and how his situation would have been different to us had we not watched it unfold live on national TV. I then get into the background of Bengals running back Joe Mixon. I read excerpts from Phil Mushnick's column in the NY Post from two weeks ago. Yesterday an arrest warrant was issued for Mixon for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman. Mixon is denying the incident. What about Ray Rice? Would he have been able to resume his career with the Ravens if we hadn't seen him punching his fiancée in an elevator? The answer mostly likely is yes.

Grant's Rant: 2-2-23 Romo and Rice Feb 02, 2023

Show notes

A few thoughts as we get ready for next week's Super Bowl. Thank goodness the game is on Fox and not CBS. I don't think I could handle Tony Romo for three hours. While I would have been fine if the Niners were in the big game I am thrilled I won't have to deal with watching Jerry Rice's herculean ego! Enough already!

Grant's Rant: Why Denver Sean? Feb 01, 2023

Show notes

Sean Payton is the new head coach of the Broncos. My question is why Denver for Payton? I know he is getting a boatload of money, but Russell Wilson looks like a QB on the decline, and they have lost a lot of draft picks as well. I like Payton a lot as a coach, but now he is in a division playing against Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert four times a year. Good luck!

Episode 231: Sports and Travel Feb 01, 2023

Show notes

On today's episode I talk about my two passions, sports and travel. I share my early experiences of watching planes on approach to JFK Airport and why I love flying so much! I talk about my international trips with the Kings to Japan and China as well. I also discuss how I was able to check off a bucket list item by travelling around the world in business class for little money!

Grant's Rant: 1-31-23 Sports Officials Jan 31, 2023

Show notes

It was not a good weekend for refs in the NBA and NFL. The NBA refs missed a clear foul at the end of the Lakers and Celtics game and the NFL Championship games were poorly officiated. NBA refs are getting killed for putting out a tweet after the missed call that would of sent Lebron James to the line with no time remaining. You can argue all you want about whether the tweet was right, or wrong, but you can't debate the content of the tweet!
