Grant's Rant: 7-11-22 Covid Stupidity Jul 11, 2022

Show notes

Novak Djokovic has another major under his belt. He won Wimbledon yesterday for the seventh time and now has 21 majors. One more and he will tie Rafael Nadal with 22 which is tops in the sport. However, due to the absurd restrictions in the United States Novak won't be allowed to enter the country. He is unvaccinated and thus can't enter the US. How absurd is this? If you're not vaccinated you can fly on a plane, eat at a restaurant, workout in a gym, but nope, ya can't come to the US. Novak can't get on his private jet and play in the US Open! Stupidity with a capital S!

Episode 179: Ryan in Sactown Jul 08, 2022

Show notes

My guest on today's episode is a guy who is one of the "clones" as a huge Jim Rome fan. He also is somebody that has followed my career for many years. He recently reached out to me regarding advice on broadcasting. I've always believed in paying it forward. On today's episode we talk about a variety of topics including his 7 year old son Liam who was born autistic. I hope you enjoy this conversation with a long time caller who now wants to be on the other end of those calls as a talk show host!

Grant's Rant: Summer League Hype On Steroids! Jul 08, 2022

Show notes

Can we please calm down with the hype of NBA Summer League? The buildup for Orlando and Houston was like Alcindor and Hayes for crying out loud. The top pick in the draft Paulo Banchero of the Magic was 5-12 for 17 points and 4 rebounds. Jabari Smith who was taken third by the Rockets had just 10 points on 4-10 shooting and 7 rebounds. I get you need to market the league, but the buildup for these two players and the game was over the top!

Grant's Rant: 7-7-22 A Carolina Theft Jul 07, 2022

Show notes

The Carolina Panthers were able to acquire Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns for just a 5th round conditional pick! Not only that, but the Browns will pay most of his salary. That is a theft and look for Mayfield to be the guy over Sam Darnold come week one!

Grant's Rant: 7-6-22 Not a Rant Today Jul 06, 2022

Show notes

It isn't always easy to come up with a rant. Hard to believe, but in the last 24 hours I haven't seen a sports figure do something stupid, or say something stupid. I can't rant on the Kings and their pick of Keegan Murray. The kid looks like a player. I I can't rant on the Thunder and their pick of Chet Holmgren as he looked great in his summer league debut. So today, I talk about something I saw on Twitter retweeted by Vince Carter! We need a lot more of this.....enjoy!
