Grant's Rant: 8-2-22 Alvin Kamara Still on Field? Aug 02, 2022

Show notes

Why is Alvin Kamara of the Saints still on the field? Yesterday his court hearing from a brawl at a Las Vegas Hotel was pushed back a third time. Kamara was charged with felony battery following the alleged beating of an individual that had significant bodily injury. Kamara and three others are facing charges, Kamara has admitted to punching the victim and police have video evidence. Innocent until proven guilty? Yes, but not all the time! To me this is one of those times!

Episode 186: Ian Eagle Aug 02, 2022

Show notes

Today's episode features Ian Eagle of CBS Sports, TNT and the Brooklyn Nets. We start off the conversation talking about Chris Carrino. Chris is the radio voice of the Nets and was a recent guest on my podcast. Chris has a rare muscular disease and Ian talked about what an inspiration Chris is. I then asked Ian what it was like going to Syracuse University. Syracuse is one of the top broadcasting schools in the country and Ian has some phenomenal stories from his collegiate days. Ian and I then discuss what advice he has for aspiring broadcasters including obtaining perfection. I thought Ian had as close to perfection as I've seen in last January's playoff game between the Titans and Bengals. Ian spent his early years in the business at WFAN in New York. I asked him about working with Chris Russo and Suzyn Waldman, both of whom were just selected for the Radio Hall of Fame! We then wrap up the show talking about the Buffalo Bills who Ian thinks is the team to beat this year in the AFC.

Grant's Rant: 7-29-22 Embarrassment in Arizona Jul 29, 2022

Show notes

The Arizona Cardinals have removed the addendum in QB Kyler Murray's new contract requiring 4 hours on independent study every game week. The team put out a lame statement due to the backlash. Bottom line, there is a reason why the addendum was put in the contract to begin with and Murray and the Cardinals can say whatever they want. Addendum's just don't appear if there isn't a reason for one.

Show notes

Today's episode features Nando Diaz who recently began a podcast called Miami Sports Vibes. Nando reached out to me via Twitter after I was fired from KHTK and that began the friendship we have today. Over a year ago Nando was a guest on my podcast as a contestant on "Grant's Rant". After we recorded the segment he told me he was thinking of starting a podcast. I encouraged him to go for it! Today's episode discusses his journey and what it's been like getting his dream off the ground. Nando has done a great job talking Miami sports on his weekly podcast as it continues to get more and more downloads. I am grateful i was able to help in a small way as it is always important to pay it forward!

Grant's Rant: 7-28-22 What a Night For Sactown! Jul 28, 2022

Show notes

Last night the Sacramento Republic beat Sporting KC to advance to the finals of the US Open Cup. The Republic are the first non MLS team to reach the finals since 2008. And after watching the amazing atmosphere on the pitch in Sactown, let us not forget Ron Burkle who let the entire community down when he backed out of a deal at the last minute to that prevented Sacramento from having an MLS franchise. Perhaps last night's historic win has opened up the eyes of other "whales" who won't leave Sacramento and their fans standing at the alter like Burkle did!
