Episode 192: Mike Breen Aug 23, 2022

Show notes

Great to have Mike Breen back on the podcast. Mike of course is the lead TV voice for the NBA and is also the TV announcer for the Knicks. We started off the show by Mike bragging about his beloved NY Mets. I then asked Mike about missing games in the NBA Finals due to Covid. Mike missed a total of three games, Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals and the first two games of the Warriors-Celtics series. I then asked Mike what's the most nervous he's ever been before going on the air. This led to both of us sharing our stories. Mike also talked about one of his most embarrassing moments while doing a Giants-Bengals pre-season game. I then shared some stories about Al Davis when I did their pre-season games for 5 seasons. Mike also gave his thoughts on his broadcast partners Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy regarding about possible returns to the bench. We ended the show by talking about Kevin Durant and his favorite place to eat while on the road.

Grant's Rant: 8-22-22 Props to Braves Fans Aug 22, 2022

Show notes

Great job by the Atlanta Braves Fans yesterday. They booed one of their own several times. Marcell Ozuna returned to the lineup after his DUI arrest on Friday and the Braves fans booed him several times. Ozuna was also arrested in May 2021 on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and battery after police said they saw him attacking his wife. After he completed a pretrial diversion program, his charges were dropped. More fans should be like the Braves fans. Why cheer athletes who repeatedly do bad things? Enough is enough!

Show notes

Yesterday it was announced that Brown QB Deshaun Watson was suspended for 11 games and fined 5 million dollars for his "egregious" and "predatory" behavior. Watson spoke to the media yesterday and again maintained his innocence. What a freakin joke!!!!!

Show notes

My guest on today's show is Arthur DiCesare of Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas. Arthur has tons of experience in the gaming business, and we began our conversation talking about the impact of Browns QB Deshaun Watson being suspended for 11 games. Arthur made it very clear that QB's move the needle when it comes to odds. I asked him about Alvin Kamara's uncertain status as well as it relates to the Saints. We discus several key matchups in Week 1 of the upcoming NFL season including the 49ers and Raiders. And as always, gamble responsibly!

Grant's Rant: 8-18-22 Quirky Kings Schedule Aug 18, 2022

Show notes

I don't usually get too caught up on the NBA schedule, but why are the Kings playing the Warriors three times in 27 days? That makes no sense to me, especially since the cities are only 90 miles apart. You should never play a divisional opponent three times within a month. Just stupid!
