This week’s guest is Kelly Stocker. Kimya likes to call her the most famous not famous person in Austin as she is connected to nearly everybody--seriously ask someone in your life if they know Kelly. She honed this title when she was the Austin community manager of Yelp, and now she’s a gal who does a bit of this and a bit of that. And she’s also a DJ on a local radio station KGSR which is where we’re recording from right now and she writes for the local branch of Culturemap. Oh, and she has a funny and informative newsletter called the Friday Five that you should all subscribe to.

The ladies chat about the meaning of the film, what it's like to be an upcoming independent filmmaker, and why it's okay to be a little delusional (this wisdom came from a pretty big filmmaker - cough cough - Richard Linklater). Bonus: hear about her latest project set to launch later this year!

The Pollen Is Killing Us Mar 31, 2017
    Show notes

In this quickie episode, the ladies are suffering from allergies and shamelessly seek your sympathy. They chat a little bit about the previous episode with Lauren Modery, mainly the bit about her working as a personal assistant in Hollywood, mentioning a sulking John Stamos (we love you, uncle Jesse). They also discuss a New Yorker article written by Jia Tolentino that dives into the celebration of the gig economy. Is the hustle as empowering as it sounds? Also! Find out who their guest will be next week. Enjoy this episode? Leave us some love in the reviews!

Jeff Goldblum Has a Heart of Gold Mar 24, 2017
    Show notes

In this episode, the ladies introduce you to a modern day Renaissance woman. Lauren Modery is a freelance writer in Austin and self-proclaimed rail enthusiast. Lauren’s blog Hipstercrite was one of the OG popular blogs in Austin, and her Medium page has an impressive 36,000 followers. We chat about her time spent in Hollywood, how she became a writer, a trip to Standing Rock, and her love for taking the train.

    Show notes

In this episode, the ladies drink a wee bit too much Deep Eddy Vodka and recap their SXSW experiences with you. They chat about who they were lucky enough to meet, what food they can't stop thinking about, and discuss the idea of future meet-ups with you listeners. Feel free to subscribe and leave the girls some love with a review! As always follow the fun @iwasjustsayingthat on Instagram.

In this quickie, the girls dig into the Oscars envelope situation (we got you, Warren!), Michelle's casual thyroid surgery, birth control contemplation, Kimya's solo trip to LA (a moon dust review included), and Michelle learns new slang word. Enjoy! Also! If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review and subscribe. We love new Internet friends.

    OKCupid’s Arrow Feb 17, 2017
    Show notes

Our guest today is writer and adventurer Clara Bensen. You may recognize Clara’s story even if her name doesn’t ring a bell. In 2013, her whirlwind story of romance and travel, which she published on Salon.com, went insanely viral. It’s your typical story of girl meets boy via OkCupid, and then a few weeks later girl and boy hop on a plane to Turkey with no suitcases. She turned her story into a book called No Baggage, which is also being made into a movie. She’s still with her boo, Jeff Wilson, and they work together at Kasita a micro-housing company, and she’s currently working on a novel, which she goes into more detail about on this episode.
