Ay! Welcome to the seventh episode of season 6 of the I Want to Believe podcast!

Once the tourists go home, the leaves have fallen and the weather has turned cold… our small towns in Maine can feel even more desolate and remote than some of them already are. That desolation, one could argue, may cause people to do strange things from time to time. In 2005, the residents of the small coastal town of Cape Elizabeth would find out just how strange one person would get...

Ay! Welcome to the sixth episode of season 6 of the I Want to Believe podcast!

In the summer of 1993, seven hikers set out into the rugged, southern Siberian mountain range of Khamar-Daban. The trip had been meticulously planned for 6 months prior. They even knew what meals would be eaten on which days. When the time finally came for their trip, they entered the woods… seven days later, only one person would come back out.

Ay! Welcome to the fifth episode of season 6 of the I Want to Believe podcast!

We’re doing something a little bit different this evening or whenever you’re listening. I have invited Michelle Shores, a Maine author onto the show. She’s written an intriguing ghostly book and we’ll discuss it at length. I did want to say that I recorded her interview over zoom and once in a while, the internet gremlins like to put some pops and clicks within her audio. I’ve cleaned everything up as best I could and you will truly enjoy hearing what she has to say. -

Ay! Welcome to the third episode of season 6 of the I Want to Believe podcast!

On March 8th, 1994, hundreds of people reported eerie lights above Lake Michigan. Calls flooded into local authorities to report these strange sightings along nearly 200 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. The calls were from folks from all walks of life — police and a meteorologist to residents. Most who saw the lights insisted they were UFOs; nearly 30 years later, their true origin remains a mystery.

Ay! Welcome to the second episode of season 6 of the I Want to Believe podcast!

People all over the world have been sharing stories about times they have experienced a "glitch in the matrix". That phrase, first coined from the 1999 film The Matrix — poses the idea that humanity is living in a giant computer simulation. Over the years, the phrase has become a sort of shorthand for an example of unusual occurrences that cannot be explained logically. Tonight, we’ll be sharing the most interesting examples of glitches in the matrix that we could find.

Ay! Welcome to the season 6 premiere of the I Want to Believe podcast!

On the evening of February 23rd, 1975, two 7-year-old boys, Masato Kawano and Katsuhiro Yamahata, were roller skating near the Hinode Housing Estate in Kamimachi, Kōfu, Yamanashi, Japan.

At around 7pm, they heard a crackling sound that seemed to be coming from somewhere above them.

As they looked to the sky, they were startled to see two orange balls of light flying about. They were fascinated by the aerial acrobatics and continued to watch when, all of a sudden, one flew off while the other started to descend.

The events that followed would change their lives forever. Check out the episode to hear their whole story.

Ay! Welcome to a second, surprise Halloween episode of the I Want to Believe podcast!

The Mandela Effect has been confusing people around the world since 2009. But what is it exactly? The person who coined the term defined it as, “When people clearly recall an event in history, something very specific, but historical records show that something else happened.”

Tonight, on this All Hallows Eve episode, I’ll be sharing the origins, examples, my own personal experience, some theories as to what the Mandela Effect might be and also, we’ll get into the creepier side of the phenomenon.

I Want to Believe the Podcast – S5 2022 Halloween Special – Death and Exorcism

Open: Exorcism of Emily Rose Trailer | Closing song: Eyes Without A Face by Billy Idol

    Clips throughout episode: Buzzfeed Unsolved

Welcome to the I Want to Believe podcast and our Halloween special for 2022! A familiar voice is back with us for the spooky season, friend to the show, Valerie Lofaso.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was a 2005 horror movie about a young woman who had become possessed by several demons. The movie was based on true events… in this episode, we’ll be sharing those events with you.

Anneliese Michel, the woman that Emily Rose was based on, grew up devoutly Catholic in Bavaria, West Germany in the 1960s. When she was 16, one day at school she blacked out and was seen walking around in dazed state and unresponsive to those who approached her. Though Anneliese did not remember what happened, friends and family told her of the trance-like state she had been in. Little did they know, this was only the beginning.

After numerous exorcisms of Anneliese ended in tragedy, her parents and priests involved were charged with her death. Was it temporal lobe epilepsy and Geschwind syndrome as the prosecution presented? Or was it actual demonic possession, which the defense argued? Listen to the episode for the whole story and decide for yourself.

Opening song: I'm Seein' Robots by Kool Keith

Closing song: Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears

Welcome to the I Want to Believe podcast! This is the fifth bonus episode of season 5. Tonight, we're remixing things up and I'll be presenting an updated version of the Falkville Metal Man case. On October 17, 1973 in Falkville, Alabama, a man encountered an odd, humanoid being. This man was the town’s Chief of Police, and he just so happened to get some pictures of the being. We originally covered the Metal Man in Season 2, Episode 1... since then, Former Police Chief Jeffrey Greenhaw gave an interview and provided some interesting information not reported in the original case. I have the audio of that interview and you'll be able to hear Greenhaw's own words about the incident.

Before we jump into the episode, we wanted to provide the I Want to Believe social media & email links.
