Husker247 Postgame Pod: NU hangs around in close lose to Buckeyes Oct 26, 2024
    Show notes

Husker247 gathered for a post-game recap of Nebraska’s tough 21-17 loss to Ohio State on Saturday.

Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer got together and walked through how the 4-point loss played out and why Saturday’s close loss was every bit as surprising as last week’s blowout to Indiana.

The two specifically dove into the strong play from the defensive front, highlighting Jimari Butler and MJ Sherman in particular as the two had strong performances and really made life difficult on Will Howard and the Ohio State offensive line.

Then it was time to give John Hohl his flowers for a shockingly good kicking performance that allowed the Huskers to add points instead of getting nothing out of its early game success.

Finally they addressed the offense from the running game to the play calling. A few things were working well in the running game but not much went right through the air. Where are things sitting for a passing game that was thought to be a strength at one point this season?

There’s plenty of discussion about the offense, the defense and then oddly specific predictions, picks to click and the group gives their picks for who wins on Saturday.

Husker247 HoopsCast: Kent Pavelka joins the show Oct 23, 2024
    Show notes

Legendary Nebraska Cornhuskers broadcaster Kent Pavelka joined the Husker247 HoopsCast on Wednesday morning to talk about the 2024-25 team, last season’s surprise result and his long career as the voice of men’s basketball.

Pavelka, who sounds bullish on Nebraska for the upcoming year, started the conversation talking about who stands out for the Huskers, who can help replace some of the production that left and why things might look a little different.

From there he dived into his career, his favorite places to call games, his memorable calls, the origin of bangarang and if he’s thought about what he’d say on air in the closing seconds of an NCAA tournament win for the Huskers.

Husker247 Podcast: Identifying problems, finding solutions Oct 22, 2024
    Show notes

The Husker247 Podcast gathered on Tuesday morning and discussed the aftermath of the Indiana loss, what Matt Rhule had to say after watching film, issues on offense and defense, as well as some possible solutions and the latest on Nebraska’s 2025 class with another commitment.

Things started though with Michael Bruntz and Brian Christopherson walking through their blown tire before even getting out of Lincoln on the way to Bloomington. Finally after the Banter subsides each walks through what Rhule said on Monday and what stood out to them about his comments.

Then a longer discussion took place about Nebraska’s offensive issues, how some of those might be solved and in what ways the Huskers could try to do things differently.

Following the offense the defense took center stage. Why does Husker247 feel better about the Huskers defensively than on offense?

Finally a conversation about JuJu Marks, his flip from Kansas to Nebraska and what the Huskers have done in Kansas City and with the 2025 class.

The two also discuss what changes likely have to happen either in the immediacy or shortly after the season.

Husker247 Postgame Pod: Blown out in Bloomington Oct 19, 2024
    Show notes

Mike Schaefer and Michael Bruntz convene to discuss Indiana walloping Nebraska 56-7 on Saturday afternoon on a national broadcast.

It feels like it has been awhile since Nebraska looked this bad and the guys from Husker247 breakdown what went wrong on defense, ponder what can happen on offense and largely ignore the special teams all together.

If Nebraska looks like this after two weeks to prepare for Indiana what might it look like in a week with Ohio State on the schedule?

    Husker247 HypeCast: Indiana Oct 17, 2024
    Show notes

The biggest game of the season is upon us — at least until the next week perhaps — but this only means one thing as Nebraska heads to Indiana.

    It’s time to get hyped!

Max Olson from ESPN joins the panel and provides some strong information on all the different transfer portal additions the Hoosiers made ahead of the 2024 season.

As always things start on offense where we discuss Nebraska’s ability to create explosive plays, how Dylan Raiola used the bye week, the run game and more.

Then it’s defense and if the Huskers defensive line can be up to the task of handling Indiana’s explosive offense, who could help the group moving forward and what it looks like if Tommi Hill is available.

Finally it’s prediction time. Who picks Nebraska? Who goes with Indiana? What do the scores look like?

Husker247 Podcast: What changes coming out of the bye? Oct 15, 2024
    Show notes

The Husker247 trio returned from the bye week look fresh and spry after a week off from the daily grind of Nebraska coverage.

After some delightful banter about pumpkin patches and traveling the group dove into a discussion about Husker football as it heads into the final six games of the season.

To start with the group discussed Matt Rhule’s Monday press conference and in particular how the Huskers used the bye, clock management and creating explosive plays.

Things finished up with conversations about players who have surprised through six games, who could be a critical factor for the next six games and which game each is excited for among the final six.

Husker247 HoopsCast: Meet the new roster Oct 09, 2024
    Show notes

After a successful debut in a year that featured multiple wins over Top 10 teams, an appearance in the semifinals of the conference tournament and an NCAA tournament bid the Husker247 HoopsCast is back and ready to get the hoop heads fired up for another season.

Mike Schaefer and Brian Christopherson walk through the roster, make some introductions and offer some insight on a lot of the new names that will be playing for the Huskers this season and who might be in position to help the team out when it comes to replacing players like Keisei Tominaga, Rienk Mast and others who pushed the Huskers into position to play meaningful games in mid-March.

Another fun season awaits and Husker247 is looking forward to delivering plenty of Nebraska basketball content as Fred Hoiberg and company attempt to avoid one-hit wonder status.
