Deer Hunting Crash, Who's to Blame? w/ Don Higgins | HUNTR Podcast #154 Oct 31, 2023

Show notes

In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we bring back big buck killer Don Higgins to the show to talk about some of the issues we're seeing as a hunting community. The reason we started this show was to meet like minded hunters and have open conversations about the unspoken controversy within our community. The number one issue with hunting right now is access. We talk about it all the time. Whether that be access of land or the resource itself. There are a lot of factors that go into play when it comes to poor hunting experience. Why are the land prices so high? Why is there no where to hunt? Why aren't there any deer of quality in the areas they should be? These are the questions we ask ourselves. Whether it be poor management by the state, new hunting technology making us more efficient at killing deer, or the combination of both. There's a lot to say about why hunting is the way it is today, and what can be done to improve the resource and make it a fun experience for everyone participating. The Future of Bowhunting is Under Attack w/ Chris Dunkin & Skip Sligh | HUNTR Podcast #150 Oct 10, 2023

Show notes

In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we bring on guests Chris Dunkin and Skip Sligh to discuss some of the current issues with bowhunting today and what we can do as hunters to improve our experience moving forward. While the idea of hunter opportunity is great, it's been taken too far resulting in more bad than good for the archery hunting community. We talk about these issues all the time and it's up to us to make a difference. Whether that be separate crossbow seasons, eliminating baiting, or having some sort of regulation from state-to-state, it's important that we find a way to create more access for hunters. We also touch base on the recent EHD outbreak in the midwest and how it may change things for a lot of hunters this season. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show as the guys get deep into the politics of deer hunting and what we can do as a community to make a difference. JEREMY'S 2023 KENTUCKY ELK RECAP | HUNTR Podcast #148 Sep 28, 2023

Show notes

In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, the guys sit down to recap Jeremy's recent Kentucky elk hunt. Going into an area you've never hunted before, no cell cams, no intel, can be challenging. Learning the ways of the elk is a whole different ball game than chasing mature bucks on private land. Having to dive in and use woodsmanship skills and read sign is not something that most hunters are used to these days. With the use of modern day technology in the industry, it's refreshing to get out there and just hunt. While there will always be obstacles that get in the way of your goal, at the end of the day it's all about the experience of the hunt. That's what makes you a better hunter and keeps you coming back for more. Tune in to this episode as Jeremy unfolds the journey of his 2023 Kentucky elk hunt! JARED'S 2023 NODAK BUCK! | HUNTR Podcast #146 Sep 21, 2023

Show notes

*BONUS EPISODE ALERT* In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, Jared breaks down the journey of his early season North Dakota hunt. What started off as a planning a little prank, eventually led to the success of this North Dakota giant. We talk about it all the time, the pursuit of mature bucks. Hunting the thick country of North Dakota is a challenge in itself, let alone completing the goal of shooting a big buck. With the use of cell cams, mapping systems, and other technology in the hunting industry, it can be intimidating hunting a new area without those tools. It forces you to use your woodsmanship skills, read sign, and ultimately prove yourself as a hunter. Knocking down a big North Dakota buck is a dream come true, but the experience and the journey that comes with it is what makes it so special. While you want to have a goal, it's important to take a step back and enjoy these moments with your buddies at deer camp, creating memories that will last forever. You're only given so many seasons, so you gotta make the most of it and enjoy it every step of the way. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show as Jared gives us the recap of his North Dakota buck...
