    Show notes

In this episode I chat with entrepreneur Michelle Sutherland, a Scottish born now Aussie (Scozzie) who has been alcohol free for almost four years.
Michelle made the change when she heard Tony Robbins say these very simple words "Alcohol is poison, don't do it". That was enough, she made the choice to stop on New Years Day and she hasn't looked back.
We talk about her strategies, her ability to say no and how powerful that is, the benefits of being alcohol free and how much her life has improved in all areas.
We also talk about breaking down your goals in to mini goals, the importance of congratulating your self, accountability, keeping good company and being brave enough to honour yourself and sobriety being the highest form of self love.
The book we talk about is The Happiest Man On Earth by Eddie Jaku.

    26. Battling a private hell in the public eye with comedian Fiona O'loughlin Nov 21, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode I chat with much loved Australian comedian and author Fiona O'loughlin. Fiona has had quite a public battle with alcohol and has she has just released her second book, Truths from an Unreliable Witness where she bares all and holds nothing back. The book takes us through her journey with alcohol, how it spiralled out of control, and how relapse after heart breaking relapse she slowly lost everything, her marriage, a home to live and almost lost her life.
She is now back from the brink and rebuilding from a much more spiritual place.
    A bit about Fiona.
Fiona O’Loughlin is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian. She is an accomplished Author, TV presenter and Media Personality. Cast in the 2018 Network Ten Program “I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here” Fiona won the title of Queen of the Jungle.

Fiona has been a constant fixture on all Australian networks since her first appearance at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

The award-winning national documentary series, Australian Story, filmed an episode on Fiona, which rated over 1.3 million viewers.

    25. Abandoning yourself with Victoria Vanstone Nov 14, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode I chat with author Victoria Vanstone about her journey with alcohol. For Victoria the transition from party girl to motherhood didn't come easily and she soon found herself in an emotional tug of war, struggling to balance the two lives. Eventually she decided that enough was enough and she felt that the pull to be a more present mother outweighed her need to drink, she sought therapy and has been sober now for two and a half years.
Vicotria is hilarious and writing about her struggles in a blog and is also writing a book. She is about to launch her own podcast called 1000 wasted Sunday's.

    23. From fine wines to metho with Lauren Linnane Oct 31, 2020
    Show notes

In this heart wrenching episode I chat with Lauren Linanne, who I know from my Theatre Group. Lauren bravely shared with me her story. One of complete degradation and loss.
From being in a normal relationship with two kids and collecting fine wines driving a Mercedes. Her drinking slowly started increasing until she was trying to hide her daily habit. She would end up sneaking drinks to keep her addiction from her family. She tried everything to quit from yoga to new age healers to therapists and nothing worked. She slid further and further until she found herself a meth addict, drinking metho and loosing custody of her children.
Recovery has been a long road for Lauren who has now been sober and rebuilding her life for over 3 years now.
She sought help from the Buttery in the hills of Bryon Bay and is now in a 12 steps program. She is a total queen and is so brave for sharing this story.
If you are really struggling with daily drinking contact your local AA program.
Lauren's rehab was through the Butter https://www.buttery.org.au/

    22. Billy Otto life is the drug. Oct 24, 2020
    Show notes

In this first episode of season one I interview the total legend Billy Otto. Billy is a music producer, mentor and amazing musician. He has lived a pretty big life for his 32 years. He has been a Seventh Day Adventist minister and studied bible college in America. He then left that life and found his love in music and partying. He recently felt it was time to honour himself by giving up alcohol and other things he felt were holding him back. After his own self governing detox he rid himself of alcohol, porn, coffee and recreated his life. Billy is one of a kind. A beautiful soul who resonates joy with a beautiful vulnerability. He reflects on what it is to be truly masculine and to truly love your own mind and body.
