We speak with Dave Ray of the Federation for American Immigration Reform on the ‘Biden Effect’. AUSTIN, Texas – Almost immediately after President Donald Trump’s surprise 2016 election, illegal immigration fell so precipitously that, for the first time in memory, government detention centers along the Texas border remained nearly empty for months afterward. The phenomenon, characterized by a 70 percent decline in apprehensions, was called “the Trump Effect” because aspiring migrants who’d attentively heard Trump’s tough campaign rhetoric about coming border walls and immigration law enforcement figured the better choice was to just stay home. But an equal and opposite “Biden Effect” is in the offing, one where aspiring migrants south of the border have heard Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s campaign promises on illegal immigration and would feel profoundly incentivized to come in large numbers after a Trump loss.
The Presidential debates between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden will be moderated by journalists from Fox News, C-SPAN and NBC, with CNN being shut out of the debates for the first time since 2008, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced Wednesday. Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace, who has angered some Republicans for his pointed questioning of Trump and White House officials, will moderate the first presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sept. 29. Calling in this morning is Republican Strategist Jessica Colon.
Paul Summer a former State Attorney General of Tennessee calls in to talk about ‘Keep Nine’, a bipartisan organization comprised of former State Attorneys General. They are promoting their amendment that would constitutionally limit the Supreme Court to nine Justices. . Following the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, there are renewed calls for the number of seats on the Court to be expanded, a practice commonly known as "court packing." The Keep Nine amendment would permanently end the threat of court packing and protect the independence of the Court from partisan stacking by both parties.
