This week’s case is brought to us by a Housewives of True Crime listener (Thanks, Drema!), and it's certainly a doozy. Our story begins in Haiti with a young doctor and his flame Betsy. While their romance was classic young love, Jean-Claude moved to New York, where he worked as an ER doctor and married a woman named Eliette in 1980.

“Her and Jean-Claude got on like peas and carrots, right? The whole medical thing, Haitian culture in common…” – Gretchen (10:20)

While they lived in Long Island, Jean-Claude occasionally stayed at their apartment in Brooklyn to sleep after a long shift. Well, that’s what he told Eliette. He was living a double life, and Betsy, the flame from all those years ago, was his other wife and living in Jersey with their children. For 17 years, he kept this secret, but after he was hit by a car in 1999 and passed about a month later, the truth came to light, and Jean-Claude’s brother stepped in demanding money for the funeral.

“Well Eliette was like, ‘Kick rocks, Aly! Because I can’t afford that. I actually don’t know up from down right now financially.’” – Gretchen (20:14)

What ensued after is a wild tale of family drama, betrayal, attempted murder, and mayhem…

The Small Town Strangulation of Sarah Stern: There’s Something About a Sting Operation… Dec 26, 2022

In this week’s Housewives of True Crime episode, Gretchen and Tabitha are bringing you to the small town of Neptune City, NJ, a place with a population of about 28,000 people. While you may be expecting small town charm and a tight-knit community, it housed the dark and disturbing homicide of young Sarah Stern on Dec. 3, 2016.

“Sarah was a budding disco biscuit: 19, very pretty, artistic, loved the arts, and actually had real talent.” – Tabitha (8:28)

While the only initial lead in this case was an abandoned car on a bridge, Sarah’s family and friends simply couldn’t imagine her taking her own life, and the evidence really didn’t point that direction. The only significant information came from her high school friend Liam who spent the evening with her, and his story spoke of a seemingly normal night… That is, until his friend Anthony stepped in and offered the police details on a chilling plan that Liam had shared with Anthony a few months back. In an effort to bring the truth to light, a classic sting operation was planned, and Liam sang like a canary with absolutely no remorse…

A Classic Whodunit: Sweet Sandra Turns #1 Suspect in the Murder of Jon Garner Dec 19, 2022

We’re back this week with yet another Texas case, and in this episode, Tabitha and Gretchen break down the murder of Jon Garner and the mysterious role his wife Sandra and her son played.

Though Jon was Sandra’s third husband, these two were certainly in love, and they spent 18 years together.

“They got married in Vegas – like me and my ice machine-loving husband.” – Gretchen (12:36)

To celebrate their anniversary, Jon and Sandra went out for a night on the town, but things went awry when Sandra was awoken that same night by a masked intruder. After stealing their money and claiming that Jon was his boss, the intruder shot Sandra’s poor husband, leaving him dying in their home. At least, that’s the story she told the police…

When the investigation began, Sandra’s son Wes became exceptionally cooperative with the police. So cooperative, in fact, that he threw his mother under the bus and told authorities that he believed she was the murderer and where they might find the gun that wasn’t accounted for. Between this information, her son’s suspicions, and an incriminating article in her search history, things were not looking good for Sandra.

“I think I found this very article, and I’m not gonna give you all the tips because it will make Tab coo coo for cocoa puffs.” – Gretchen (22:00)

As prosecutors focused on her involvement, rumblings about her son Wes began to circulate because he seemed to know a bit too much about the whole situation…

From Namaste to Namastalker: Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson, Caitlin Armstrong, & Colin Strickland’s Deadly Love Triangle Dec 12, 2022

Gretchen and Tabitha are back with another Texas tale, and this case is certainly living up to the city’s mantra: “Keep Austin Weird.” However, the story begins with a gravel racing competition in the tiny nearby town of Hico.

“Kind of sounds like hymen. Not a good name for a town. I don’t know why my brain is like that…” – Gretchen (7:38)

Dartmouth graduate, engineer, and biker Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson absolutely loved the cycling scene, so when she heard about this competition in Hico, she had to go. She knew many people in the biking community, of course, but it was no surprise that fellow cyclist and previous romantic interest Colin Strickland was there as well. Their short-lived fling was nothing out of the ordinary... Until she began to receive calls from an unknown number telling her to stay away from Colin.

Colin’s girlfriend, Kailtin Armstrong, had strong feelings about Colin’s little romance with Mo, so she became the prime suspect after poor Mo was found dead in her friend’s Austin home following an evening with Colin on May 11, 2022. And after incriminating evidence was found relating Kaitlin to the crime, she fled to Costa Rica…

“Kaitlin… That is so predictable! That’s where all those types of tapestry-hanging people go on vacation!” – Gretchen (32:46)

The case is still awaiting trial, so hopefully Gretchen and Tabitha will have an update for you in 2023!

“Kill Bill” Highway Murder: The Story of Bill Hall Jr., Francis Hall, and Bonnie Contreras Dec 05, 2022

This week’s case was brought to us by an avid Housewives of True Crime listener (Thanks, Sasha!), andwe’re not lying when we say it is a wild ride.

In San Antonio, TX lived two lovebirds, Francis and Bill Hall, who were happy with their two children… Or so Francis thought.

Bill was having an affair with 28-year-old Bonnie Contreras, a woman he had met at a Texas festival. Their affair continued for a few years, but things came to a head when the truth came out. After a gnarly texting war between Bonnie and Francis, things got ugly as indecent pictures and scathing insults were hurled back and forth.

“But Bonnie, in return, is no Michelle Obama. When they go low, she be going lower.” – Gretchen (19:37)

While Bonnie continuously refuted Bill’s side of the story, her blatant disregard for Bill’s family made the situation volatile, and the three of them had their final confrontation on a two-lane highway.

The outcome? Murder. But you know you can count on Gretch and Tab to look at things from all sides…

“She didn’t go out there to kill Bill. She went out there because she’s so upset that he’s having an affair and lying to her. And this crazy Bonnie chick… is an immature a-hole.” – Tabitha (33:44)

Bodybuilding, Betrayal, and Murder in Oceanside, CA: The Killer Sally/Sally McNeil Case Nov 28, 2022

In the beachy, California town of Oceanside sits Camp Pendleton, and in 1995, a crime like no other was committed by a former Camp Pendleton Marine.

On the night of Valentine’s Day, former Marine Sergeant Sally McNeil found herself at the center of a murder when her husband, Ray McNeil, was shot and killed. After observing abuse in her family throughout her childhood, history repeated itself in Sally’s second marriage when she became the victim of abuse by her husband, a former marine and fellow bodybuilder, and ultimately murdered him.

While Ray was cheating on Sally, abusing her, and taking steroids throughout their marriage and careers as bodybuilders, Sally had many instances of aggression and violence against others, and the killing of Ray McNeil led to a sentence of almost 20 years in prison for Sally.

In today’s episode, Tab shares the details of Ray McNeil’s murder with Gretch and unpacks some of Netflix’s recent documentary, Killer Sally. The Not-So-Tinder Swindler – The Crimes of Con Man and Love Fraud Criminal Richard Scott Smith Nov 21, 2022

In the “Heart of America,” Kansas City, a single mother named Tracy was just looking for love.

While she hoped to find a nice man to spend her life with, instead she found, unbeknownst to her at the time, a con man with a long history of meeting women and stealing every penny to their name.

Tired of the dating scene and excited by the prospect of love, Tracy was falling for his charm, but Richard Scott Smith was really lying to her about a medical malpractice lawsuit that he said would soon grant him millions of dollars and biding his time before bleeding her dry.

“How come this God-loving, Applebee’s-eating, Lifetime-movie watching man can’t get the cash that is rightfully his? But no. It’s because he was full of the shit.” – Gretchen (13:37)

As soon as Tracy’s teenage daughter began to get suspicious, this man’s swindling spree was quickly revealed; once a pattern emerged, an investigation led by the victims began and a bounty hunter was hired.
