Today is a really special day for me for several reasons…first - this episode is our last episode for season one! The other reason is that today you will hear an interview that I did recently with an amazing lady.
Malia Miglino is an actor and makeup artist who lives and works out of Los Angeles, California. She has her own YouTube Channel, and is the host of two of my favourite shows…Macabre Mondays and Grave Hunter. Her passion for story telling, history, and everything spooky inspired her to create her first show Macabre Mondays, which quickly gained a loyal following of who she calls her #creeps to which I am happy to say that I am one.
After learning about the increasing numbers of historic cemeteries disappearing, Malia created a second show called Grave Hunter to bring awareness to this issue, and help remember our ancestors. She has been around the world to speak on panels, travel to historic and possibly haunted locations, and does so with enthusiasm, and a glass of wine.

Historically; societies that believed in witches both hated, and feared them. This hate and fear was often directed at people for various reasons, and unfortunately resulted in them being subjected to witch trials. Because of this, many of their fates were sealed.
In this episode we will be telling the stories of some of these poor souls, which are more strange and terrifying than one would imagine.

The concept of moving between different points in time has been a very popular topic in science fiction for years. TV shows Dr. Who and Star Trek, along with movies like the Back to the Future Series, show people getting into some sort of machine and time travel to various points in the past or future, and then jump into an adventure.
But is time travel real? Scientists do not agree. Some say that any attempt to time travel will kill the human who tries, and others believe it is completely possible. There are also others who think it already has happened.

Voodoo is not what people think it is. It isn’t portrayed accurately in movies, TV, and in books. Voodoo is not devil worship, and its practitioners are not witchdoctors or evil. Voodoo is not a practice that intends to hurt or control others. So, what actually is voodoo?

The idea that the dead can remain earthbound started in the most ancient times, and has appeared in countless tales since then. It has spawned its own folklore genre - ghost stories. People believing in ghosts is actually part of a larger belief system, which gives people comfort. After all, who wouldn’t want to believe that loved ones who are gone are watching after us, and help us in our times of need.
But with the good, comes the bad. Not all ghosts are good and pure. Some are malevolent, and want to harm. It is the believe in these types of spirits that make us look under the bed at night, or jump when the floor creaks. It is these stories that we tell around campfires, or to scare ourselves. And it is these stories that are told generation after generation, which brings us to one of my favourite ghosts stories that I read about as a child.

Since the beginning of time, people have looked to the heavens and thought about the meaning of life and how fragile our existence actually is. Some people believe that we move on to the afterlife and some people believe the lights just turn off, but all these people do have the same wish…to leave a legacy.
Today; you will hear about some very famous people who have passed on and have left amazing legacies, but for these people - this has been overshadowed by how they died.

When I was a child my mom would regularly drop me off at my grandmother’s house when she did the weekly grocery shopping. One reason why I liked going was because when there I would read grandma’s newspapers. They weren’t like the newspapers that were in my home. They did not tell about the local news or events. Grandma’s newspapers were different. These papers had cool names like The National Enquirer, The Star, and The World News. They told me all about how Elvis was still alive and living in Kansas as a dairy farmer, or how aliens kidnapped another baby to raise at their own.
By the time I hit the age of 4 or 5, I figured out that Elvis was not living in Kansas as a dairy farmer, but I am not so sure my grandma did. Either way, I think my love for all that is weird started back then, and it is also where I first heard of the name Edgar Cayce.

What do we mean when we talk about “monsters”?
When people hear the word “Monster”, they usually start thinking of classic gothic horror images like Frankenstein or Dracula. How myths behind monsters was created is actually indicative of the moral challenges facing society, versus the realities that people have encountered. The fact of it is, fabled monsters are easier to accept and deal with than a real life monster.

A few days ago I was speaking to one of my listeners. I happen to phone her every Sunday, since she is my 74 year old mother. She said to me…I was listening to your podcast with your Auntie Henriette, and we loved it (thanks mom), but when are you going to talk about Wendigos? I don’t know what shocked me more…the fact that my 74 year old mother is a fan of my podcast, or the fact she wanted to hear about Wendigos. Luckily for her, I was currently working on this episode.

Spiritualism is a belief system that is based on the supposed communication with the spirit world. It started to develop in the mid-1800’s and reached it’s peak in the 1920’s, but many of it’s practices continue today and are more common than you think.
Many of you have likely used tools that were created as part of this movement, but may not know all the urban myths and perceived dangers that these tools may bring. Today you will hear about some of these tools, what they supposedly do, the trouble they may bring.
